I've been having major computer headaches lately. 2 weeks ago everything was fine - no pop-ups no problems. I left for a week on a business trip (DH is home using computer) and when I return it's pop-up city. I left the computer for about an hour and returned to 58 IE windows. Plus, some hijacker invaded and our home pages were set to a Search page that we couldn't get rid of.

So, I loaded Ad-aware, McAfee personal firewall and private security. I'm still getting a few pop-ups but nothing serious and we're able to retain our homepage settings now. Still some bizarre stuff, though.

My question is, when you go into your task manager and click on the "Processes" tab, how many do you have running? I'm not sure of what should be there but I have 54 processes running. Bad news?

have you run disk cleanup to get rid of all your temporary downloaded files?

I only have 8 tasks running in mine

Sounds like your DH spent the week on the Porno Sites.
His way of letting know you how much he missed you!

Thanks for the responses. Yes, I did the disk cleanup and deleted all of the cookies too. Everything seemed to help a little but I'm still not back to normal.

I looked at the page history and DH was surfing some questionable sites. I really don't care about that except for how it's messed things up in our system.

Thanks, Glassgrl. I'll give these tips a try and see what happens.

Install and run SPYBOT - it wipes out the spyware you have running...I havent had a pop-up since I installed it ( I run it every couple of weeks).
