I don't know if this has been mentioned here but I just noticed it on the Announcement Board.

***Feedback Removal and Abuse Policy Update***

Date: 10/14/03 Time: 04:32:54 PM PDT

To ensure the Feedback system remains an accurate measure of an eBay member's reputation, today we are making several changes aimed at clarifying and strengthening the Feedback Removal policy.

On the Feedback Removal policy page, under "Circumstances where eBay will consider removing feedback", the "transaction period" referred to for requests to remove feedback for false contact information is 90 days from the end of the listing, or 30 days from the date the feedback was left.

An additional circumstance that qualifies a comment for feedback removal has been added: Feedback left by a person who was ineligible to participate in the eBay marketplace at the time they left the feedback is eligible for removal. For example, this could apply if a suspended member registers a new account under a different User ID and then leaves feedback. It could also apply if an underage user is using the site without parental supervision. In both of these cases, the person leaving the feedback is ineligible to leave feedback, so any feedback left would be eligible for removal.

Feedback left in relation to an illegal item may be removed if the item is verified by law enforcement to be illegal. We want to clarify that the item must be an illegal item, and not just an item that violates an eBay policy.

Thanks Kiara for some good news here!

For some reason this doesnt make sense to me:

the "transaction period" referred to for requests to remove feedback for false contact information is 90 days from the end of the listing, or 30 days from the date the feedback was left.

So what is it? 90 days to file request or 30 days?? Or is that clause enclosed only if the buyer leaves FB after 3 months?

Great news Kiara, now maybe I can get one of my recent negs removed. I have read all the wording of the policy and it seems like you have to file for removal after 30 days the Neg was filed, but no longer than 90 days after the Neg was left.
If E-Bay really means to abide by the new policy then there will be a potential for thousands of Negative Feedbacks to be removed.
Too bad we don't have a way to check and see how many kids are using their parents account after Mom and Dad have gone to bed at night.

I guess this applies to the old "The Babysitter used my eBay account while I was out" ploy.

Now if they'd added that NPB's couldn't leave feedback (and made it retroactive), I'd be one happy eBayer!

Here Jack, I will bump this myself.

Maui...no, they way I understand it is; up to 90 days after listing date, or 30 days after the fb is left. So if the bad FB is left 120 days after auction, you only have 30 days from that date? (right?)

Has anyone tested the new Policy yet? Let us know, we will all overload E-Bay with requests. Anyway, how are we going to prove to them that the babysitter bought the stuff? Is E-bay going to take our side and believe us that the babystitter bought the items? I think not.
