My Aunt just passed away and left me a collection of 15 Singers Featherweights. They are all 222k and two have never been used. The others are mint as well.

Are they really worth this much? How should I sell them..1 month? I dont want to flood ebay with them all?

Hi Low======

I used to see them go for $700 plus on ebay if they have the attachments all in good condition. At a local antique shop I saw one sell for $280 recently. They will definitely sell on ebay. I sew myself but don't know quite why they are so popular. I'm sure they are made extremely well though.

I would just sell them one at a time to get the optimum price. You will do very well with them I'm sure.

I also thought the old Featherweights sold very well.

Aren't they still used a lot by quilters?

Singer Featherweights always seem to do well. If it were me, I wouldn't flood eBay with them either. I'd probably list one or two a month. And then when the prices start to go down on them, I'd probably wait a little more and then start listing when there are new buyers and not the same bidders bidding against each other. That's just me...probably some other opinions out there. But I've been doing eBay since the beginning, and we all know -- things change -- constantly! It's really hard to say...if you wait too long, the bottom of the market could also drop out. Guess you'll just have to monitor it and see what the market for them is at that time.

Good luck!

From the look of those aucions, I'd say you owe a big thanks to Auntie - good luck!

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Wow, auntie has left you quite an inheritance! You've gotten good advice here, and I won't repeat it. At real auctions I used to attend, women would get into catfights, bidding on these. $200 to $1,000. People who sew adore these little machines and swear by them; easy to carry around to quilting classes and sewing bees, etc. Still very popular. If Singer were smart, they'd bring it out again. . . .

Out here in CA, they go for $200 to $400. The market isn't as good as it was 5 yrs. ago.

Reading this made me SICK!! I just called Mom and asked if the little sewing machine she gave me years ago (I don't sew and don't know what has become of the machine - got it when I was more or less transient) was a Featherweight..YEP! All I remember is that every time I tried to use it the stitches locked and I got so frustrated!! SIGHHHHHHH
