I'm looking for some advice on a good auction software product. I am a low volume seller. About 100 auctions a month. I'm looking for basic software that will:
.
.Allow me to set up a simple template with the ability to have 1-4 pics per auction, image hosting is a plus. Scheduling auctions a plus. Nothing fancy.
.
.
.

Has anyone used sparedollar? Is it an easy, trustworthy service? Can you manage an inventory?

I sell 150-200 auctions a week, and Vendio is great, but I also find it expensive. $75-100 a month through just Vendio??? I have 75 different items at any time in my Inventory, plus I list 25-50 new "non-inventory" items a week. 1-4 photos is generally my range anyways.

Sparedollar is fine for the small time seller. There is no inventory support and the post-sale management is no good. It is a fine service for listing auctions. I list a few there occasionally and then use Shooting Star for the post-sale management. They are working on improving post-sale and plan to have some new updates in the coming weeks.

You can tell there are no mods anymore around here as they use to quickly pull down the links of the competitors, especially ones that are lower priced.

I used to use shooting star which works well. Outgrew it and moved to Vendio. 200 auctions running continuosly.

I am also a small seller (have 40-50 auctions up per week, usually). I use eBay's Turbolister, which is simple to use.

It is free. You can put up one picture for free, more will cost extra. Nice plus: you don't have to host the pictures on the web--Turbolister uploads them right from your computer. I don't use their templates (they cost extra, I think).

Haven't encountered any problems with the software, which you can download for free from eBay.

I can't understand why a low volume seller would use eBay's listing service (turbo-lister or whatever they call it) when you get a whole lot more for $4.95 flat rate at spare dollar! If you are paying more than $5.00/month to ebay for extras like additional images and pending auctions then you would be better served at SD! You get free image hosting, nice templates and post sale management to boot. Customer service is great.

Marc's right - it's a bit cumbersome for larger volume sellers ( I did a whole lot of copy and pasting during my month trial) and the post-sale management isn't very well suited for large volumes..but you get a whole lot of bang for the buck!

1. cuz its free (I like free)

2. cuz it doesn't require pictures to be uploading & stored in the ether. One less step--I like that

3. had never heard of Spare Dollar. Just took a look at their website. They have a 30 day free trial, so I'll give 'em a try. If using Spare Dollar increases my sales, I'd be willing to pay $5.00 a month for it. We'll see.

Bunni: Ralphie says: "Thank You!"

For small sellers, SD is the bestest bang for the buck!

Especially now after all the improvements Tomas has made, it is easier than ever to create & launch nice ads. He fixed the pic-attachment feature, so auction-creation is no lobger a clunky time-waster.

The PSM IS bare-bones, but identical to what feeBay charges $5/month for, so it's good enuf for Ralph&I!

Uh Oh--so, I'm looking at the community discussions over at Spare Dollar, and it seems that for the last couple of days folks using it are having problems iwth their images showing up!!

Doesn't make me want to list lots of stuff with 'em...I'll try one or two, maybe & see how it goes...

Bunni: Yes, Tomas has just completed an upgrade to his system & there have been bumps for 3 or 4 days

Knowing him, though, I'd expect things to be smooth by MON

Considering the ver small monthly fee, SD has been surprisingly stable -- better reliability than some I could name...

I usually run 10-15 per week & I use Vendio. I pay $12.95 per month plus a commission on sales. Usually runs me about $20.00/month. Have used it since the beginng when it was free.

Thank you to all that added to this thread. Tomwii, I especially like the look and vast assortment of templates on your suggested site. I should have added that as one of things I was looking for. Is there any other software that offers near the quantity and quality that's offered here? I am concerned about the problems people are talking about having there though.
