This may sound dumb but its really got my curosity. Yesterday I receive an email from a seller. A survey "how are we doing" so thinks to self,..hmm..this is innovative, but I cant remember buying anything from this seller so start looking at them on ebay and deeper it gets is this:
1st - Sent email to my NON-EBAY email account.
2nd -- Lives within a 50 mile radius of me.
3rd -- Has very similar ebay User ID to mine, (ie, mine is hotshot and theirs is biglittle hotshot) but they have been selling since 1998 and big time PS. Pure coincidence?
4th. They sell mostly wholesale lots which...I've been thinking about getting into, but it seems too weird to just "happen" like this.
Anyway, I emailed them and said roughly, look not trying to be a bit** here, (i didnt say I do ebay too) but this is email spamming because I have never purchased anything from you so how did you get my email address that is not even connected to EBAY?
They emailed back this am; send us a copy of the email name and mail and we will research it.
Okay, so question for you pros out there:
Why do I feel funny doing what they requested???

I'd feel funny, too. I'm pretty sure that's SPAM and Ebay doesn't allow it. If they want to know how they are doing, they should send an email after they've mailed your product asking you how you liked it. Then again, they should know that if they receive feedback. I'd never bother my bidders in that way. Like you, I don't think I would have complied.

Sounds like spam from a seller. The seller probably had enough sense to use another email address than their ebay email. With all the Viagra and other spam that I get these types of spam aren't too annoying and they are very infrequent and I just delete them.
I'm sure ebay will try to use these types of spam emails as another shallow reason to prohibit email addresses in auction descriptions in the future. ( real reason is all the off-site dealings )

I just love the spam I get for Vicodin (available WITHOUT a prescription). I'd like to know how they are getting away with selling that and Valume without scripts.

Okay Fluffy, here's the email with xxx's out of it. (Some days I feel like I am trying to make a living at this too so do I really want to report them for spam? -- just wondering how they got my email that I shelter from ebay.

Ace, Normally I would have thought it just spam. But did purchase a few things here and there in the last month or so. It got the better of me because I thought...is this what this seller is doing to keep the customers remembering them. But I didnt buy anything from this seller. Guess it is just spam. Bet they got that email from when I tried out Andale!
