Just wondering what other sellers think of offering Bidpay to their buyers? I'm considering it as a payment method, but haven't heard too much about it. Opinions appreciated.

Thanks!

I love Bidpay too. It's especially nice for international deals.

Same here. They are prompt and very reliable. As soon as I get their second confirming email, I ship out the item. The money order will get to you in 3-4 days.

I've had it on my auctions for years. Because I allow Paypal, it has not been used much, but when it is used, it is better then paypal.

A few of my International buyers use it occasionally. I include a link to them in my auctions as a convenience to buyers and it costs me nothing. I probably have used them 20-30 times in the past year and they have worked fine. Checks are sent immediately and usually arrive within a couple of days. I ship at the time their approval email arrives (don't wait for check). All fees are paid by the buyer. Wish they had a direct deposit option like paypal.

I've used them for about 3 years and have nothing but good to say about them. Never had a problem with them and you don't have to worry about chargebacks.

Ditto to what's been said above. However, no buyer of mine has used Bidpay, including international buyers, since I began offering Paypal. Not one! Costs them money, whereas Paypal costs ME money.

I use BidPay almost exclusively for my international sales. I have had nearly 200 customers pay using the service and have had no problems with any of them. Their customer service depatment has also been a huge help to me when a customers money order was not approved in helping me determine if it was a correctable error and what it was so that the customer could resubmit (i.e. one entered her phone number instead of the auction number so they were unable to confirm the auction). I have only had a few customers complain about their fees and in those cases, I told them to just subtract the fee from their total. I love BidPay and will continue to reccomend them to my customers.

Love BidPay!

Great when selling internationally.

About 75 buyers have used BidPay. I ship as soon as I receive that second confirmation email and have never had a problem.

Their Western Union money orders always arrive within 3 - 4 days max and have all the auction information (item number, title, etc.) on them.

Makes matching payment to item and bidder so easy!

I hate to put a damper on this lovefest, but BidPay has had some problems. Among other things I seem to recall hearing about fraudulent money orders.

Make sure your BidPay-using customer understands that BP doesn't issue the money order until THREE BUSINESS DAYS after the order is placed.

Thus, you pay for the money order on Friday but it doesn't get mailed until the following Wednesday. Sellers, inevitably, are blamed for the delay.

You should also keep in mind that the money order can be cancelled any time up until you cash it and it clears.

I never ship a BidPay-paid order until the money order is deposited...except for the last few days before our Christmas break. Then I'll stretch a point and ship when I get the confirmation.

if you sell high priced items, your intl bidders may complain of the fee ,it can add 7-10 dollars to the bid amount.

Fluffy - the fraudulent money order problem is a misconception. It happened a few months ago and was a matter of some of the money orders going out with an incorrect account number. A problem which they fixed immediately.

Also - the Three day wait as far as I can tell is only if the money order is purchased on Friday - it does not get mailed until Monday. Other than that, I generally recieve the payment about 2-3 days after I get notice of it being mailed.

It may not be a perfect but I have yet to have a problem.

I love Bidpay. Absolutely problem free for the seller and always fast payment. I don't
offer Paypal and I know I lose a few sales because of it, but don't really care. The less hassle I have in my life the better and Bidpay is hassle-free.

Fluffy - I wonder is that was the same phone rep that told me that if a money order I had sent but had not yet arrived, didn't make it, I should sue the seller?

I'm ust basing my statements on my experiences ( I get about 20 payments a week right now. ) The money orders that I received yesterday are ones that I recieved approval notice on Thursday. I know that there are times when they get backlogged and it can take longer but as far as the I can tell from the patterns I have seen, there does not seem to be any standardized hold period between approval and shipment.

I have used Bidpay for many years and Have always received the payment in less then a week, I ship when confirmation is emailed and never have I had a problem.
Also, Bidpay is the only on line payment center that you can not make a charge back, or worry about payment being canceled.

I also feel its the best form of payment for an International Buyer,...
I don't accept paypal so for me this has worked real well

I just received a Bidpay money order today (11-5) that is dated 11-3-03. The customer had submitted it to Bidpay on 11-2 and I received approval confirmation from them on that date. I have never had to wait more than 5 days from the time of approval notification until I have the payment in hand unless a three day weekend falls into the timeline. The "fraudulent" money orders were actually a misprint of a routing number on a batch of money orders that slipped by the printer's proof reader. I received 2 of those money orders and an email from Bidpay notifying me that if they bounced, they would be replaced and they would pay any bank fees that I might be assessed. Fortunately, they had the routing number validated soon enough that both of mine went through with no problems. I was very impressed with the way they handled the situation and the assurance they gave that I would not be out a single dime because of it.

I offer both PayPal and BidPay. I've had no problems with either. Since 95% of the online payments to me have been thru PayPal, if I had to use only one of them, it would be bye-bye BidPay.

I receive and have used them for my Ebay purchases. I am surprised they are not used more often. They are very good.
