OK I'm game for this one !
Married 17 wonderful years to my (still) best friend...will be 18 in Feb. and get this we only dated about 2 months before we got married. He still tell me I'm beautiful and he loves me everyday before he goes to work even thou I have never been beautiful (have always been over weight my whole life) and kisses me goodnight every night and says he loves me again. He will clean anything I ask him to but the dishes lol and I would be completely lost without him Do we fight ? Of course everyone does but were never mad more than a few hours and it's over.I love him now and will forever.

It's always nice to read about those one-in-one hundred truly happy marriages.

We just had our 36th anniversary so it seems to me things are going pretty right. I agree with toasted that being married to your best friend is the way to go. The difference is that we were good buddies at work for four years before he shocked me with a declaration of romantic interest. The down side is that we share a fanatical collecting gene so there is no on to put the breaks on when we find a "must have item" for our collections.

okay, got to give input on this thread.

married my third husband 28 years ago next Monday...he had custody of his 6 children from a previous marriage, I had 2 children, we then had 1....7 boys, 2 girls.

he is my best friend and the baby is now grown and married.

we have 21 grandchildren and are expecting our third great grandchild in January.

he is retired and while I am at work he does all the cleaning, cooking and laundry. when I get home he waits on me hand and foot if I let him get by with it.

we knew we were meant to be together about 2 months into our marriage. we had a horrible argument and I told him to get out. while he and my two sons were packing their things into the van, his six kids sat in the front room watching tv..LOL! They were staying with me.

from then on, if he got mad and left, he went to my mothers until I called him to come home. that usually took about 2-3 hours.

And even though I weigh enough to make up two people, he says I'm still a hotty.
Life is only as good or bad as you make it.

toasted36: If he says you're beautiful, you're beautiful.

No one, on the other hand, has ever said I was beautiful, pretty or even cute.

Count your blessings!

Me and the wife have been together since oct 8,1971.We went together for 2 years, lived together for 11 years.Thats 13 years before we finally got married by the J.P.We were both working at the time,so we got married on a Friday had Sat & Sun for a so called honeymoon. We never had a real honeymoon, but we are still together. Most of are friends are or have been divorced and they all had big weddings and 1 or 2 week honeymoons...go figure.
