Someone keeps stealing my picture so decided to replace it...with a not so nice picture. Is that wrong?

Hi Seth
Well its wrong for them to steal it. I've heard people changing the picture on those sellers who can't take pictures for themselves. No I don't think your wrong... well, I don't know how 'bad' it is...
Show us the auction, I, for one NEED a laugh!

The pic is of a celeb caught in an unflattering moment getting out of a car. Censored of course, but still.... I kind of feel ...bad...for doing it. I was just angry because I hadn't looked at my Vendio statement very closely for awhile only to discover this guy has done this several times.

What I would do is figure out what they owe me, send them a bill and say if you don't pay this bill you will turn them into eBay.
Here is eBay's policies on Picture and Description stealing. Send him that also. No you are not bad...

Aww, that doesn't sound bad at all... and the seller needs to know that its wrong, PLUS your being charged for him using your picture.
You might want to email him, and let him know, that they are YOUR pictures he is using, and your being charged for HIM using them.
Are your 'replaced' pics still in his ad? Wonder how long before the sellers notice? LOL!
No, your not bad for doing... I can understand the frustration!
I've had my pictures stolen and used in someone elses auction, and the seller had the NERVE to say, 'these are not the best pictures I could take of this item' arghhhhh!!!!!!

don't turn them into ebay after threatening to do so. It could be interpreted as your harassing them. Just turn them in. Make out the bill and tell them payment is due the NEXT time they use one of your pictures. If they use another send it to collections.

How do you know when someone's stolen your picture? Do you just stumble on it in an auction? Or?

Yeah, NearTheSea, the pic is still there. I just found it today so he/she may not have had a chance to see it yet.

OMG Replay, that was SICK..... but thank you for the warning, but now I won't be eating for quite awhile!!!!!!!
Seth, did you use 'tub girl'? LOL
Roadsmith, like tfs13 said, on Vendio you would see it on your statement.
On mine? This is too much, but, we were helping someone start on ebay. She bought a camera, she used our auction program, but not with pictures. I use my own FTP. So... I would show her where I was getting some of the things I sold, she went and got the same, fine. So I would look to see how she was doing, and lo and behold, she was using my pictures..... So, first, I put the 'no right click' on every one of them... then from about THREE bidders, comes complaints on how they like to save the pictures of what they buy on ebay, so I took the no right click out. I then started putting my email address on the bottom of them..... she then was able to cut OUT my email..... I then just plain confronted her, and while she saw no problem with it, I told her, take your own pictures, and host them yourself.... obviously, we don't talk any longer

Is there a special way this would show up on the Vendio statement? Like, "pictures stolen"?
Not sure what to look for.
NEARTHESEA: HOw do you put "no right click" on your pictures?
Am I sounding stupid today? Don't answer.

One more thing..... the no right click is great...... but for a more 'savvy' computer person (or maybe everyone knows this) there is a very simple way to get the picture anyway...... though I won't put how on this board, in case someone is looking, who wants to get into the no right click picture..

If you look at your account statement, there is a column that states...listing fee, FVF, etc. If someone uses your picture it will list as: image hosting.
That is a fee (image hosting) I don't see on mine because I just use the per auction listing plan so images are included with my auctions at no extra cost. If someone would steal a picture, it says "image hosting".
Oh, bye the way, that has to be the most disgusting picture I have ever looked at!!! YUK!!

Oh my gosh, that picture is SOOOOOOO disgusting!!! It's the absolute perfect thing to substitute when someone steals a photo you're hosting!!

Thanks for the help here, pals.
LifeIzGood: I have the same plan you have, pay as I go, free images. So if someone stole one of my pictures, would I be paying for his use of it or would that be part of my "free images" in the package? Just wondering.

Your "free images" are part of the cost of that particular auction. If someone used your URL for their own auction, then if would show up on your bill as a charge of .10 for each picture used per auction. (If he used pic in 3 auctions you would be charged .30 (.10 for each one) and I would show as a charge for image hosting, which you don't get if you do it the way you currently list. Confusing, but hope you follow what I'm saying.

Substitute one of the pictures with a text message that reads " Please contact me via email to purchase this item so we can avoid the outrageous Ebay final value fees" Then report the auction to Safeharbor.
The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.
