Please tell me I'm seeing things. I was going to buy this item for my daughter for Christmas. Good thing I checked the shipping! $70+ from Nevada to Ohio. Geesh. I had to check it twice!

http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2360848759&category=46277

If this auction is anyone's here, please explain $70+ for shipping.

I calculated shipping to SC (where I am), and it was roughly what you had. The seller's location is Nevada, so I typed in a Las Vegas zip (don't know where the seller is in Nevada) to get a closer estimate - it is $39.68 for Las Vegas. I would venture to guess it's a nice handling charge in there

edited: BTW, it's not my auction

Cheryl, guess it goes to show that you really couldnt get a $300.00 wolfgang puck cookware set for $130.00, but maybe $160?. I dont have an idea what they really retail for.

I watched him make a gourmet meal out of boiled pototoes the other day! Man!! I need a chef like him around....lol....

ps: I love how you post here "if this is your auction", please explain yourself!!! rofl......

I'll bet the seller gets a bidder who doesn't bother to check the shipping charges and then flips when they find out! It helps being a seller. I always check what the shipping charges will be! My daughter needs pots and pans and we have a couple of outlets close enough to run out to. She's finally finding joy in cooking and hopefully new pots and pans will keep her interested. She's lost considerable weight since she's stopped eating her dinners at fast food restaurants and has started cooking her own!

P.S. A personal chef sure would be nice! And while we're at it, I'll add a personal decorator to my list of wishes!

neroter12

Couldn't help adding that line. I guess it's my morning crabbiness. I'm due for another cup of coffee any minute!!! Besides, for that shipping cost I was thinking that maybe Wolfgang himself comes shipped with the pans!

Cheryl,

Do you have a SAM's club membership? Or a friend with one? They sell this set for around the $80-90 range! (I know 'cause we bought one a few months ago!) We love the set we have! It really does work great, and looks nice on our new pot rack! Hope that helps!

Yeah, Cheryl, I bet the seller will get whacked with an excessive shipment neg or NPB.

It's nice to know they have them at SAMS for that price. I like them myself!\

Just looked at his/her auctions. Has twelve negs out of 1400, but most buyers seem very pleased with stuff. Some he even offers free s/h Go Figure! Guess there is a way to make some real money on here.

It shows shipping of $65.00 to Kentucky. I put that stupid shipping thing on onw of my auctions one time and when I put a few zipodes in it from my location I came up with rates like that. I went back and took it off. That is worthless, but I don't think some of the sellers check it after they put it on their auctions. I know I will never put it on mine again, good way to drive off bidders. I don't use UPS anyway.

Yay! Somebody finally sees what I'm talking about!
http://www.vendio.com/mesg/read.html?num=2&thread=538152

The bad part to me is that it's tucked away down there so you don't see it...until it's too late.

The $11.90 shipping for the jeans was too high. They arrived yesterday and the cost? $8.00.

I will definately search for that little calculator and NOT BID or BUY anything from anyone that uses it. I'm sure the sellers that do use it love it because they make a lot of extra money...but I wonder if they know how many people or sales they drive away?

The cookware? Yes Sams had it. They're online also so you might want to check and see what their shipping is. If you don't have the membership and have a store locally sometimes they will let you try out the membership for one day free.

Whatever you do...don't buy the Calphalon stainless with the glass lids! I paid $$ for a set and couldn't wait to get rid of it. The condensation from what ever you were cooking and no matter what the temperature was!! ran all down the sides of the pots onto the glass stove top. What a mess! I complained to Calphalon but never got a response...go figure. It was and probably still is a major design flaw.

Bought the professional black Calphalon and love it.

Someone mentioned how nice a personal chef would be.

Years and years ago, Jackie Kennedy, still in the White House, was being interviewed on TV. She was asked how she kept her weight down, and she said it was easy--she just asked the chef to send up cottage cheese and fruit. Easy for HER, of course. I was sooooo mad.

I come up with the same $70.00 that's to N.J. He must have fixed shipping, just not letting it be known!

The seller MAY have made a mistake when putting in the weight or size of the box. I had an item that weighed 2lbs. 14 ounces. I mistakenly put in 2 pounds 114 ounces! I couldn't understand why there were no bids until a buyer contacted me about the huge shipping fee. I like auctions that have the calculators. At least I KNOW what I'm going to be charged without emailing and waiting for an answer.

I was thinking the seller was using overnight or something... but in their calculator, it came up $49.96 to Seattle, and it said UPS Ground Shipping. they may have made a mistake?

The calculator only gives shipping for UPS which I never use. Most people don't like being charged the extra $3.00 for each package going to a residential address.

For me it was $45.00. I'm about 175 miles from Las Vegas, and 250 miles from Reno.

I did email the seller this morning to see if the $70+ was correct. Maybe this seller is not aware of the high cost. I don't use these calculators for this very reason. Will be interested to see if the seller replies.

No - the Seller is definitely aware of the charges. I emailed him and made a comment about the outrageous handling fee. His comment? - I GUESS IT IS, but I'm selling 40-50 of these per week.

I gotthe same response. He sold one on the 10th and one on the 3rd. I don't know where he gets the 40-50 per week. What a lying yutz unless he's selling them under 40 or 50 different ID's.

I emailed him under my buying ID which has 4 feedbacks at this time. I said "the shipping calculator says $68.00 shipping....is this correct?"
He did email me back and say that it was correct.

hahaha.....the vendio gang is trumping this guy, eh? Glad it's not me!!

Roads: I was thinking about Ophra when I said that. She did a show on Costo the other day (1/2 price haircut coupons at - oh $%$%%%, - I forget, the haircutery or one of those national franchises if anybody cares - if you go to their dot.com address. You can probably get the link it from her site.) Anyway, was thinking to myself she looked so normal buying toilet paper, shrimps, etc., etc. and then thought; wait, she has a personal chef, probably somebody to clean her house, do everything...what could she care about shopping at Costco?

I guess she still has to wipe her own butt, but boy would I'd like to be her for just one day! I like the chef for at least about a week, though.

Jack, c'mon over anytime and do the cookin!!
You'd have to come south though <smiles>

Glassgirl, what did you pay for the Jeans?

If if was 2.00 or less, you probably still got a bargin at 14.00,if they were new or/in very good condition.... No,????????

Jeans are like $28 and up retail. Unless of course you do Kmart or pic and save foreigners stores, but even then......think they are more than $15.00 on the racks. (I could be wrong tho as dont shop retail all that much these days.)

did you notice that there is no combined shipping? it states that the shipping and handling charge applies to each set you order!
