Hey, all you pals on Vendio. I got this message from a buyer tonight and it makes my week! Don't you wish everyone who appreciates you as a seller would let you know? And doesn't he hit the nail on the head about the rubber-stamped praise on the feedback? Here's his message:

"Hi Adele,

Thank you for being one of the dwindling professional and courteous sellers and buyers these days on the eBay/Half.com network. I received my book today and it is everything you promised. It will become a Christmas gift for an uncle who is old enough to have had first hand contact with some of the machines depicted in the latter years of the book.

I have left glowing praise at Half.com and only wish there were some better way to differentiate it from all of the rubber stamped praise we commonly see, so that the feedback system were a little more useful.

Thank you again, and Happy Holidays."

Too often we tend to hear only what we've done wrong. Wouldn't it be nice if we heard things like this more often? Good for you...Keep up the good work!

Thanks--I just wish all of you had gotten the same message from this buyer. I know that most of us who post here are treating our customers well. It's a shame how seldom we tell people when they're doing a good job.

Roadsmith you can tell by the way you post and the way you answer questions that you are a seller with care. It's always nice to have buyers write and appreciate what you are doing. Keep up the good work.

Kudos, Roadsmith!

You're right. Those are the ones that make it possible to put up with the challenging ones.

Print that one out and hang it up next to your computer for a few days... Seriously.

When one of those nasty, needy, buying Bast@R#$ give you grief again, take a second to read it again and realize you're doing the right thing - there are just a few you can't please.

I still have one very long thank you letter taped to the back of the armoire where I sit with my computer and it was from July.

Wayne: I have already copied the letter and have it here on my desk. Maybe I should get it encased in glass or bronzed or something.

We used to invite friends for dinner -- not often, but on a regular basis. In the first 20 years we were married, I kept all the thank-you letters from friends--all 4 or 5 of them--and when I was feeling unsure of myself, foodwise, I'd get them out and read them. 4 or 5 in 20 years! If we only knew how treasured our nice notes are to others. . . .
