I have a vintage purse listed. I don't pretend to know anything about purses let alone vintage ones and I stated so in my auction. I started the auction last night with an opening bid of $25.00. I got an immediate bid which is cool. I check my e-mail as I always do for questions and someone e-mailed me saying that a flaw I mentioned about the purse diminishes the value so he/she was offering me $250 for it because they liked the style of the purse.
This person told me to check their feedback if I had any concerns. I did and they have excellent 200+ feedback, all for the same type of purse I am selling and MANY of them they spent over $400 for.

Anyways, I have no plans to end the auction. But this is the first time someone has ever e-mailed me offering me an amount straight up like that. Does anyone else get offers to end their auction early? And why would someone do that instead of just bidding the $250?

Hi!

Yes, I have had several bidders to do that.
Just let them bid if they really want it.
Tell her that it has a bid and the auction must continue as is.

You are doing the right thing!!
Sounds like you have a highly desirable purse!!! Congrats!!

Probably because your purse is worth more than $250. Have you researched completed sales for this type of purse? Why not post a pic here (or auction number) and let some of the "experts" advise you. Generally it is not a good idea to end auctions early because the item has the potential of reaching a much higher price than the offer.'

Good luck -sounds like one of those "exciting" auctions!

Thanks and you both got me excited yet nervous! LOL! I am keeping the auction running and I e-mailed the person back and told them thanks but I'd prefer not to end the auction. I told them that they were more than welcome to bid the $250 if they'd like.

The chances are the purse is valuable. There is a slight chance the purse isn't that valuable and there was a foolish bidder that was willing to pay big bucks and you missed that major opprotunity though. These types of offers always makes it interesting.

If you'd like to take the 250.00
Tell her you will cancell her bid.
Then add a BIN for 250.00 if she wants it she can use the BIN if not it will just get bid on it again.
