Hi
Just curious if you veterans have noticed that.
I am trying gallery, but I wonder if I am getting less hits because of it?
Of course, I worry for six days, then get bids, so maybe that's me?

IMHO you get more hits with the gallery. when I shop on ebay i look at the gallery items first, not in the gallery but the search items that have the gallery pic beside it.

i almost always use the gallery and feel that it gives the buyer the first glimpse to entice them to click on the item.

Depends on what you sell, I sell clothing and children's toys -- and always use gallery, no exception. I have both read and done a lot of research on this and found that Gallery always increases sales in my categories

Hi, Japerton!

Good question!!!

As a buyer (I don't sell on eBay) I prefer the gallery pictures for several reasons. The first, of course, is the teaser. A good pic of an item I may be interested in will almost always attract me to check out the item — the first time.

The second reason I really like gallery pics in the listing categories is that sellers who photograph their items, like most artists, have a 'style', and it soon becomes pretty easy to recognize the seller by their title/photos techniques. (Sorts the wheat from the chaff, so to speak.)

And, finally, a good close-up gallery picture generally suggests the seller may have multiple pics in the listing. (Very important to us buyers, I might add.) Long shots with a lot of background, on the other hand, usually turn out to be fuzzy and poor quality pics in the listing. In other words, the quality of the gallery picture is generally a good guide when shopping for those 'treasures'.

Bottom line: You will certainly get more hits/bids from me if you have gallery pics in the listing categories!

I don't have enough of a profit margin/sell through rate to put a gallery on every one of my listings. I wish ebay would have a column that identifies seller in the categoy view!

I have 11 items running right now and 4 have bids , 2 with gallery pics and 2 without ...the 2 without pics are getting better bids lol but it could be they just want those items more. I only use gallery about 50 % of the time ....some items aren't worth paying the extra .25 for . You pretty much know whats going to get high bids and whats not going to even get a bid.

Ditto, Neglus!

I wish eBay would include sellers on the category listings, too, but I can certainly understand why they don't — and won't. Quality sellers would get the vast majority of the bids from experienced buyers, while poor or border-line sellers would eventually be neglected — and leave eBay. (I suspect the seller turn-over on eBay is already pretty high.) Imagine the money eBay would lose if those less-than-professional sellers were to leave permanently!

However, I must admit that creative searching techniques do scare up some really good buys from inexperienced sellers who don't know what they have. Would that result in fewer dedicated searchers/buyers?

Hmmmm?

Maybe I'll retract my 'ditto'! ;>

I sell jewelry and men's ties. I do not use gallery picture on my ties as they don't do them justice. The image is to small. I use it often on Jewelry items but not on jewelry lots as the picture is not big enough. So you are the one that has to judge what and when to use gallery. Speaking of bids I guess it all depends on which way the wind is blowing if the bids start early or late.
