I've got this old cup/saucer set. It's marked on the bottom "Tuscan" and "Fine English Bone China" with a crown and wings logo. Anyone know the name of the maker? Is it "Tuscan" or is that the name of the pattern? The pattern has an Oriental motif which sort of looks like "Willow Blue". Any help is appreciated...Two photos follow.

Hope this helps a bit.

That's such a pretty pattern...

I bet Sanmar will be able to tell you the name. I looked at Wayne's link but there wasn't a picture for Willow.

I found a place online that is selling a cup & saucer by Tuscan in a different pattern. I bring this up because of what they had to say about the mark, which looks just like yours. Here is the link & picture of the mark:

The backstamp is the Older TUSCAN mark for the R.H. & S.L.Plant company, Longton, Staffordshire, England. When the company became part of The Wedgewood Group, the backstamp became Royal Tuscan.

Hope this helps, a little. I don't know anything about china, but that should help you date your item.

Thanks, all, for help and info. I'd searched "Tuscan" but all the patterns were different than the pieces I have...that's why I got confused. Will do a little more research to see if I can find this particular pattern name. It really is a pretty and delicate set...

Well, even knowing little or nothing about china, I can tell you that the pattern is known as "Blue Willow." Just one of those esoteric things a librarian picks up. A google will show you the history of the pattern. It was incredible popular in the late 18th & into the 19th C.

Wayne has told all that I could. It is Tuscan Co. but I don't know the pattern. I looked in my replacements price guide & it isn't listed. My cross index shows this number #C8938 as "Black Fruit" by Wedgwood. This an Oriental motif & appears to be quite old. Sorry, OI couldn't be of more help.
