Does anyone have an idea what this optical thing could be - made in France - looks brass - but can't seem to figure out what it could be...





Any guidance, ideas, suggestions of how to figure it out?

Looks like it's part of a very old microscope. One of those expensive ones. Not the kind they use in schools. Sorry I couldnt be more help
