Received on 11/29... sender..Microsoft. Title...Use this patch immediately! Having just recently gone through a total wipeout/crash of my computer due to a worm, I'm feeling leery about opening this email. It has an attachment with it too. Has anyone else received this? I did check the last 3 days worth of postings; found nothing on this.
thank you for any help

Yes I have and I am yelling here and jumping up and down DO NOT USE WHAT EVER IS IN THE EMAIL!! IT"S A FRAUD A VIRUS !!!
The only way to do do a critical update (patches) is to click on start and click on windows update
OR
In your internet explorer click on TOOLS and click on updates.

If there is any question as to a Microsoft Patch. Go to Microsoft.com & look for any thing that pertains to your windows. It will tell you what you need. I have set it up for automatic updates at 12:00 any time there is an update.

Depending on your ISP there might be windows update that you can click on & it will update according what version of windows you have. MSN has it. I just did a check & there are NO critical updates at this time.

The most reliable and the quickest way to do critical updates (also called patches) is using one of the methods I described above. If you want to do updates, you can but they won't protect you from anything. They are just niceties, bells, whistles and easy-isms for your Microsoft software that you currently have loaded on your computer.
If you try to go to Microsoft site and do it that way, you might download the wrong one and really screw up your computer. I have seen it done by some clients at work. Just be careful
