I just checked the Medved Tracker and feePay has been flirting with listings numbers between 13.2 million to 14.7 recently. That's 1.3 million additional listings in the last 2 days alone from the looks of it.

This time last year they were thrilled to have broken 10 million.

I am not a math whiz--but I somehow doubt they have attracted 25%+ more buyers for us as well.

There are some sellers still doing well.I don't dispute it. And until their niche is shaken they sing praises.I have friends who think they are wonderful. I have even more friends who are looking at eBay bills thinking only feePay is really making any money.

Anyone know if eBay user counts have increased even 15% and that they are holding up their side of providing buyers for us? We know there is no site stability--so I won't even comment on that!

At least in my areas, the larger sellers have thousands of listings a week. That includes postcards, records and movie memorabilia. So, they must have employees helping out.

I couldn't figure out why anyone would list and sell items for only pennies above the Ebay, Paypal, etc fees involved so I did a little thinking (dangerous thing for me to do) And, I came to this conclusion:

If someone is willing to spend $100,000+ to open a McDonalds, and then pay employees and sell a burger for less than $1.00 they are probably just as happy to sell an item on Ebay for a 30 or 40 cent profit. They don't do the work, just hire the help and for those it is profitable. They depend on volume alone just like they do when selling burgers.

It has boosted Ebay listings, hurt those of us doing things ourselves, and made it a buyers market.

But, isn't that what Walmart did to all the Mom and Pop stores? It has just spread on over to Ebay.

Edited to add: Thank goodness I do sell one of a kind or at least not hundreds of a kind items so I increased my beginning bid price and now if I can only sell 20% I still make a nice profit so for today at least I am still in the game.
