I just heard from Ebay that this is yet another spoof. Scary:

Dear eBay User:

As you may have heard VeriSign and eBay have merged to battle identity
theft, our new relationship with eBay continues our tradition of
providing eBay users with the latest tools designed to shop in a safe,
friendly and trusted environment. For the safety of each user, everyone
must be using VeriSign Verification Services before January 1st of 2004.

Your identity is of great value to the staff of eBay as weel as
VeriSign, that is why we are obligated to ensure that you are verified
and the ID Verify icon will appear on your eBay Feedback Profile after
12-24 hours. You can find your feedback profile by clicking on the
number (feedback rating) located next to your User ID on almost any eBay

page.

The fastest and most efficient way of becoming Verified is by clicking
on the link below and geting VeriSign Verified.

YIKES! I am so sick of these scum bags! I am getting too paranoid to even click on a "PayNow" button in a WBN...that would be a very easy way for someone to glean passwords!

I think it's about time that ebay dedicated more of their millions of $ to tracking down these lowlife scammers. There's got to be a way.

They can't be doing much. I almost never read about these people getting caught.
