I have been receiving invitations from eBay for the PS program - and from what I have read here am pretty discouraged from joining.

I do have a question I hope someone can answer. Under Exclusive Benefits, it lists "eBay Direct Pay - discount on your monthly fees" - I was wondering exactly what kind of discount do you get on fees?

Thank you!

grammatical edit - and another! (need more coffee!)

You get 1% back and it is "exclusively offered" to Powersellers.

I accepted in October and I can say it had one positive that is working great for me. I tend to have a good week and then just let it slide a while when i see the Ebay fee getting up there.

In November, I had a weak start and my Ebay bill had already reached over $100. So I decided what the heck. I had initially accepted just to check out the insurance package but it was way to expensive for me ($900+) for my husband and I per month. So I just kinda let it go.

Then, they offered the FP deal and I tossed out all the postcards I had been saving for FLD and hurriedly made up 100 new ones before leaving for Reno for Thanksgiving. I made over $800 that week alone. If I hadn't decided PS was worth holding onto I wouldn't have listed those.

While that was nice, what it did was show the potential I had for making real money on Ebay. Something I have never done. It has always been hit or miss. If I feel like listing OK and if not, well OK too. But, I am very goal oriented and to give it a fair deal I wanted to list 200 every week and then make sure I was still making a profit higher than Ebay's I did!

Now, I try to keep 200 out there all the time and am doing good enough to no longer worry about the Ebay fees. I just Paypal them out of each weeks earnings and keep listing

So, what my ramblings are getting to is: It has made me realize the potential I have in Ebay. I had thought it was pretty much out of the question to really make anything anymore, but now I see you just have to keep those listings coming. This week I was very discouraged. Didn't sell anything for 3 days. Then the first 50 items ended last night with a 38% sell through (which for postcards is very high) and had several multiple bids as well. I'm a happy camper and glad I gave PS a try. I needed the extra motivation and I certainly can use the extra money. Our daughter is getting married in August

Congrats LindaJean!! And the PS by your name didn't hurt (or help either probably) a bit!

Postcard selling is a lot of work! Each item is unique and sell through rate is low, ebay fees add up quickly...you have to spend money to make money..the more you list the more you sell and I think sales go up exponentially because of the "click to see sellers other items" feature..looks like it's working and it's more of a testament to your hard work than market conditions! Way to go!

Thanks Neglus!

Now, if Ebay would quit messing with the links. I have a link to my other items at the bottom of all my listings (who wants to click through 8 pages when I can show it all on 1 for them?). But, since Ebay changed something this week they are all dead links now and I hate to think about going into 1200+ saved listings and editing each one

I think the biggest benefit of the PS is it made me start treating Ebay like a business. Setting aside certain times each day for listings, mail, email etc. rather than a catch as you can venture.

But, reading the post on the Ebay room makes me look around me and realize I have to get really busy to get all this straightened out for Christmas. Think I will take a break next week for housework.

I am officially on break but still not weaned from the computer!! It got too much for me so I listed last night (after swearing I wouldn't until after Christmas)...wonder if they have a 12-step program for me?

LOL!

If you find the 12 step program let me know

I can't resist either. My husband and kids (actually grown daughters and grandson) are wanting me to bake cookies and finish Christmas decorations but then I think of just one more I really need to get out there and here I go again!

Wow! $900 per month for ebay health insurance. We should dig out some of those old threads where we all speculated on whether the insurance would be free or not.

$912 a month to be exact. And, that was with no pre-existing conditions coverered.

We have been uninsured since March of 2002 so I had thought anything would be better than nothing for someone in the late 50s. But, for that rate, I couldn't even consider it

I was shocked. I had thought maybe as high as $500 or $600 but that was just too much. Guess the old cross our fingers and hope we stay healthy will have to work a while longer.
