This is interesting. Why wouldn't someone like sniping. With that notice I would just back out of his auctions.

See below.....

Will receive negative feedback if bidder snipes? Can they do that? If you pay for the item on time how can they leave negative feedback? Definately would never bid on a one of this person's auctions!

Check out their feedback policy:

"Feedback is neither expected or given except in rare occasions when negative feedback is appropriate. Feedback is voluntary, and this seller - because of the volume of bids dealt with - prefers to spend his time carefully packaging items and making effective communications with buyers."

On top of that they are selling repro post cards. This is of course not a problem since they state the fact but I prefer original cards and am happy to say I am not upset to put them on my personal "blocked seller" list.

postcard seller. Can they reproduce those. The auction I sent you was from my hometown railroad and I would rather have an original than a repro. Even though there are not many postcards from there I still would not bid.

Look at the feedback left this seller is leaving. He's in real need of a vacation. It might be fun to buy from him just to piss him off, which shouldn't take much.

uaru: How did you do that just getting the negative feedback. I tried and tried to find it but couldn't. You must have a magic formula.

Isn't this business totally illegal because of copyright violations? How does he get away with it???

What a jerk (and that's putting it mildly)! How can he charge a late fee for late payments?

He is two days past in need of a vacation...

Sorry to interrupt the usual Vendio smackdown of anyone who dares to be different, but I like this guy. I'd buy from him. I wonder if he has anything my train friend would be interested in; I haven't bought a Christmas present yet.

As for the "no snipers" policy:

Hard to know for sure without asking him, but my guess is that enough of his regulars are upset by being aced out at the last second. Note that he only sells at auction, which is a choice I made at one point.

Of course he can't actually enforce a late fee, only that in if the miscreant still wants the item they will have to pay it to get it. Seems reasonable to me.

And I adore what he said about feedback; stated right up front. My kinda guy. I think I've had some of these bidders. I'm going to write him and point out that he can get the feedback removed that contains his first and last names.

Copyright violator and loan shark. "Late payments may be assessed a 25 percent late fee (applied to bid price and shipping costs)"

What a jerk.

He was grist for the mill here a few weeks ago.

Sad fellow, really. Maybe he did lose a regular at one point, but he sure is losing potential regulars! LOL
besides, nothing like a bad repro! I bet he's burning through scanners versus reshooting them.
Suckahs!

Maybe he's had too many monkey's steal his bananas...

Like someone WOULD snipe a bad repro postcard??? Get real! Besides, seems to me he could always make 2nd chance offers and crank out a coupla new ones to meet the need - wouldn't think he'd want to turn away any bidders in that case. He can send the snipers my way! I would rather people bid early and often but most times I am just glad to get bids!

The seller's personal observations are clouding his business sense, which is an invitation to disaster for anyone attempting to make a decent profit. He needs to come to Vendio and vent his frustrations against snipers, deadbeat bidders, the Post Office and anything else that irritates him, and then go back to Ebay and concentrate on making money. Hell, a bid is a bid, whether it comes in the first 5 seconds of an auction or the last 5 seconds of an auction. I don't care when they place it , as long as they place it. I personally will welcome with open arms all the snipers he turns away. If I were ever to remark about snipers in an auction description, it would be something like "50% discount on shipping to any bidder talented enough to place a winning bid in the final 30 seconds of the auction"

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I'm not sure it's worth wasting a lot of time on friendly terms, customer service for eBay sales. Everyone seems to think this guy is a cretin, but in spite of a handful of negative/neutrals, he has racked up over 1000 positives in the last six months.

For all the fretting over getting/giving negatives etc., do any of these customers actually care? Doesn't seem so, as long as you have something someone wants.

He is a massive copright violator, but stamps his images so no one can copy them. That's funny.

It is just possible that he owns the copyright on all these postcards. They all seem to be Florida so he may have bought the contents of a postcard company or he has established that the copyright has expired on all of them. I didn't spend enough time on his auctions to notice if that is likely.

It seems clear to me that he is selling computer printouts on card stock and his comment about "grainy and slightly out of focus" sounds like scans from halftone originals that have been de-screened.

Guess there is a demand for them and his customers are mostly happy with the product. I am really glad he is not selling anything I want.

Let's hope he owns the copyright..one of my buyers of a "special" Real Photo Postcard asked me to delete the image immediately because he knew of people who were copying the images from eBay and reproducing the postcards! Not all of his cards from Florida - he has a trolley scene from Minneapolis for sale!
