Similar to the buyer from Russia, this must be a common problem. I just sold a chanel bag for $875. I ALWAYS put US only as I don't want to deal with money exchanges from abroad. Someone listed in Alaska did bin immediately, then emailed me that it had to be sent to Korea. I spent a lot of time getting 3 quotes for shipping even though I didn't want to and didn't know where to begin so I spent all morning running around. After I told her the difference in shipping, all emails stopped. My bag, of course, has been off for a good Dec weekend! By the way, she is a 0 bidder. I have been burned twice in the past from 0 bidders. How do I prevent another neg from her since the auction has ended and I can't remove her. Now she is probably mad. (I know in the future to not accept newbie bidders but when someone does buy it now you're stuck)
Is there any way to cancel the entire auction since I listed US only?

i dont know how you can cancel an auction which has already ended??
you said after giving her options on shipping, all emails stopped??
she could be contacting korean friend what option she wants for shipping??
korea must be at least 10 hours ahead of us.
so now it is 1 am and most people would be sleeping.
for that kind of money, you would have to be patient.
ebay said 3 days to contact each other and 7 days before you can file non payment alert.
the fact that you have researched and offered her ways of shipping to korea show you are willing to go along with the transaction despite what you said in the item description.

It has been over 3 days and I have tried to give her every consideration, even though she knew better from the beginning. It appears to me people can just recklessly go through ebay doing whatever they please to anyone. Even though it was against my rules, I took her bid in good faith & tried to accomodate. It is me that has wasted time & money, not her.

If she is planning to pay through PayPal you can always fall back on the "can only ship to confirmed address" and let her worry about shipping to Korea. In fact for that $ amount you should only ship to confirmed address! One idea - why not express mail it to her and let her worry about shipping to Korea?

Thank you, you're right. I would really be risking it sending to an unconfirmed address. I already told her I would be very willing to ship to Alaska where she is registered. I also offered to absorb part of her foreign shipping since it was a bit more but will no longer do that. I think this has just turned out to be a non-paying bidder. I just wondered how to prevent this kind of thing from happening again with a bin. The big problem is of course, it ties up the piece until this all works itself out.

if her alaskan addr with paypal is a confirmed address and for that kind of money you also need signature receipt.
bidpay would not work as the amount is over 700 dollars,or has bidpay changed its policy??
u can always pick up the phone and call alaska.

The only package of mine that has been lost in the last year, was one to Korea. As you had in your listing that you only ship to U.S. I think you are in order to tell the buyer you will ship to them in Alaska, and it is their responsility to ship it to Korea. It can't be a Christmas gift, it would never get there in time, even with airmail.

The Alaska address is not confirmed. Is there a risk to the seller if the address is not confirmed once paypal has been paid?

Yikes, I'm glad I wrote today. I think I need to brush up on some rules. Instead of feeling bad over this episode, I feel lucky nothing worse has happened in the past as I realize I have taken some dumb risks. Most people I have met are so nice but it appears you must be on the alert for the occasional bad one. Too bad!! Also, I have received 2 spoof requests in the last week that I forwarded to ebay. Thank heavens I was heads up about that. I never read these boards but have learned a lot today reading mine & others. It's very nice for the people that have the time to help others. MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL!

When the value of the item gets higher than what we are willing to risk, we generally put, "If paying with PayPal, will only ship to PayPal Confirmed addresses." in the description.

The signature confirmation of the product is something we add to the shipping/handling on higher value items.

You know I've broken my Tos a couple of times for International bidders. It is a big waste of time.

The first time: I stated in the auction no Int bidders. A guy in Mexico emails me and asks if I will ship there. I said oh ok. Then after the auction ended I spent way too much time researching pricing. He didd pay and I shipped ,but the time I wasted was not worth it!

The Second time: A yahoo Canadian bid when he was not supposed to. He never did pay.

Now I only will ship small items Internationally and only via USPS. It is not worth the hassle!
