This is a big crock of #*!@. If I could get my hands on whoever turned me in for nothing. Well, I'm too much of a lady to say it. They were ended because I promoted my other auctions in the auction. I've been doing that for three years. What gives? Are we not allowed to promote our eBay auctions?

Edited to add: BTW, some of the ended auctions have no reference to anything else I have for sale.

Well sometimes if they get pissed they just end all your auctions if one of them is non-compliant.

I was a bit more fortunate. I listed about 50 items, plus 20 items that I called placeholders. I was tired putting up stuff so my plan was to modify the placeholders later to be an auction for something real.

Well ebay ended all the placeholder auctions, but they did leave my other auctions up.

Wow, that's scary. I always promote my related auctions by stating "See my other auctions for more widgets to save on shipping and insurance".

Well, now they are saying I have a baconbuttie script in the auctions. I removed that script a long time ago from my template. I have spent almost an hour reading the html (I keep copies of my auctions) and there is not one reference to it. My eyes are buggin'. Could there be a leftover word or two in the html? Who knows. eBay did get an earful via email from me though. I feel better for it. They must not want my $200+ a month in listing fees.

That sucks Cheryl! I am so sorry it happened to you! Any chance of getting the compliant auctions restored? I thought they had to warn you about noncompliance before pulling the plug?

Cheryl,

You do have the baconbuttie stuff in at least some of your auctions/store items. I found it in the first one I looked at, which was the sterling silver black onyx cuff bracelet, item 2677990926.

I can't believe they cancelled all your listings

I have a link to my other auctions at the bottom of my ad just above the photo where they are shown on pages of 200 items each rather than the 25 Ebay shows. Do you think that will lead to problems? I would hate to revise over 1,000 listings.

Also, the robins egg turquoise necklace, 2677976767 and the silver carnelian necklace, 2677975236.

In other words, every one I've looked at.

If you're using IE to view your auctions, I'm assuming you pull down the View menu and select Source. Then you should be able to Cntl-F for Find and search on "bacon". No need to pore over it all manually.

Since me & Ralphie touted the wonderful Brit, BaconButtie & his scripts, I will comment:

He does have a running battle with feeBay ever since he pointed out a feeBay security flaw -- feeBay has been harsh on him & one does have to keep up with the revisions to the script that he regularly posts --

the newest feeBAY COMPLIANT (maybe, could be??) is 2.2.06

http://tinyurl.com/fi5o

The biggest NO-NO is having ANY links to him ANYWHERE...feeBay has a real insectoid-suppository about them

Thanks, fluffy! I'm going to go in and get rid of it now. It must have been left over from before. Those are relists from a long time ago. Duh!

I know what happened! On the relists, I deleted the code from eBay. I relisted from Vendio and Vendio does not make the changes I made in eBay. Relisting from Vendio is NOT a good idea no matter how convenient it is. I know that I removed it from all of these. When I pull of the templates from my hard drive, the code is not there.

When you relist from Vendio you ARE given the option to edit the auctions before posting. FYI.

Cheyl - Couldn't you save the items into your inventory, make the needed changes and then list from inventory rather than relisting closed items?

I may be wrong - I dumped my Vendio account long ago. Works is much easier.

That's a great idea. Never thought of it. eBay removed a lot of listings, but I still have 81 to correct. I'm slowly but surely getting there. Most of the stuff is in my store. I'm rethinking how I'm going to handle things for the new year. I'm starting to list more so I have to make some changes. Year end is a hard time to be thinking about it. Between my taxes with eBay sales and the year-end stuff I have to do at my day job, I'm overwhelmed. I also do all the 501(c)(3) taxes at work and the payroll taxes. I'm "thunked" out.

Cheryl...That's an easy trap to fall into. I once listed some items in November that had the text" makes a great Father's day gift" in the descriptions. I went into Ebay immediately after they launched and changed the description to read "makes a great Christmas gift". The items that didn't sell, I relisted on FLD on the 26th of Dec. (last year) through Vendio and guess what? Yep, the Father's day text was back and I had to revise again.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

I've done the same thing with posting wrong pics on auctions and then relisting the wrong pics again!! I thought importing auctions after revision would take care of it but i dont think it does.

You guys are great. It's morning and I feel better - not as frustrated. This was the first time in 3 years so I guess I can deal with it. I really think it's dumb for eBay to end them because of a "watch" script. It's even dumber that eBay hasn't added their own like some of the other auction venues. Sigh, live and learn I suppose. The really bad thing is I missed the second part of the movie Dreamkeeper. The really good thing is that my granddaughter is spending the night tonight and we're setting up the popup tent in the livingroom. We're going camping. Of course this trip is complete with cable TV. Tonight I'll settle in for an evening of Cartoon Network. LOL!

The part I find odd is that for 3 years I never posted on the eBay board and for 3 years I've had no trouble. I post on the eBay board and wham. Could be coincidence, but I'm taking no chances.

Yours is one reason I won't post on the eBay board. Your ID is there for everyone to see and also a link to your auctions. In here everyone probably knows my user ID but it does not show everytime I post.

Ebay ended your auctions that violated the rules because they weren't making any $$$$$ on them.
This seller has been reported daily for about 2 months and Ebay turns a blind eye and allows him to reregister immediately.
He has 649+ current illegal auctions. Title contains products not offered in the listing.

http://tinyurl.com/2zbzv

He is making big bucks for himself and Ebay why would they cancel them ??

Now those auctions are a load of crap! Maybe I should use the word FREE in my title and then in the description say: Ha, ha just kidding! I guess it's easier to pick on the little guy.

Well, they're making at least $200/mo from me in fees. I know it's not much to them, but to me it is. If I pulled this stunt I'd be off in a heartbeat.

Libra

You are exactly right about the eBay boards. They are poison and I intend to stay away no matter how much mis-information I tried to correct there. Let them all pound salt!

Those auctions are against eBays rules and why they let them go on I do not know. Probably because they were bought right after he put them on and eBay didn't have a chance to close them down. Notice in some of the location boxes it says eBay?

These might be stupid questions but I thought it was ok to use baconbuttie on ebay ? I thought they changed something that made them acceptable??????

What is it with these tinyurls links people are using here? Maybe it's my old 'puter or my browser but they never work for me.

His latest post regarding feeBay's tricks:

"eBay antics they're at it again ! eBay are randomly ending auctions for "Link Policy Violations", something that all baconbuttie scripts plainly don't do. i'm not going to release any updates until i get a straight answer from eBay about legality, and i would encourage any current users to write and ask eBay the same. (posted 30 December 2003)"

Both you and BaconSandwich are wrong.

His watch script includes a link to his server. For those of you who don't have the text of it at hand (or would like something to giggle at), here it is inserted into the DESCRIPTION field of an auction. Hard to tell what this dork was thinking, but at least it's easily readable on this page:

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=50452&item=2451400727

See the line "'http://tools.baconbuttie.co.uk/addwatch.asp?a=v2.2&t=0"?

It's a static link to a third party not involved with the transaction, and a clear violation of eBay's Link Policy.

That few people realize this is a violation is a testament to eBay's predilection for making the rules so complex that almost no one understands them any more.

Thanks for the giggle! Guess he didn't proof or doesn't know how to add html to his auctions! I got rid of all the script. Took me a while, but I did it! Now, it is nowhere - I hope! Thanks again for your help on this.

There is an excellent book detailing the psychological process that Cheryl has been put through. It is 'Treblinka', a book about the only concentration camp the inmates managed to escape from in WW ll.
