I think I've finally had it. It's been a great ride, but I think the fun is over and time for the relationship to end.

Three IDs, thousands of transactions later, I get screwed on a $20 transaction. I sell a little and buy a lot. Never a neg., never even a neutral. Bought almost all my xmas gifts on eBay.

The seller gave me the "too bad" response. Falsified their add, got my money, and is laughing because she got away with it. Aargh!

So, Thank You to all the wonderful sellers. This is not because of you. This is because eBay/Paypal refuses to help me resolve the transaction. Loyalty to the site doesn't pay, and I refuse to continue to give them my money.

Me--I'll be shopping at the mall again.

I have a good eBay friend that bought multiple items (just under $100.00)for Christmas gifts from one seller 90 days ago.
My friend paid her right away with Paypal and never received her purchases (after many emails and a phone call to seller)until just
the other day.

So, my friend left her a much desrved NEG and this seller had the nerve to leave her a NEG in return.

These purchases were for Christmas gifts so in the mean time she went and bought all of these again from another seller.
Paypal and eBay would not help her out because she did not purchase the buyer protection.

She's trying to get the NEG removed (paid eBay the $20.00 or so to do that) but they're still not sure they will remove it.

It's just not fair that this seller can comtinue to sell. She has many NEGS with the same comments of items not being shipped.

If you're going to bid on eBay and you don't understand that this can happen, you pretty much deserve whatever feedback you get.

MissMadi, I am sorry you got burnt.

Think its happened to everyone at least once if you've done enough on here.

Perhaps you can remember your satisfying purchases and experiences and let this one negative one go?

For what its worth so far I've had two bad purchases (both in software) so ha-ha, I've learned to stay out of that category!!! Paypal and Ebay didnt help me much and I wasnt in the mood for a drop-down drag-out fight over them. But then for me, I strongly believe in Karma so I know those sellers will find their ass stinging some day somewhere. So I just am not going to let that dissuade me from enjoying this. Again, sorry you feel that way. Maybe you'll feel different another day.

Fortunately, this seller had already left me positive feedback (because I, of course, am an exemplary buyer! ) so I did get the limited satisfaction of leaving her a nice bold NEG.

Not trying to punish the community, just want to let my tiny little voice be heard by eBay. Enough tiny little voices will eventually get some attention....or we find a new arena to play in.

Don't let one bad seller make you leave eBay. I had a bad experience last week - seller claimed these two necklaces were 14k gold - they are not. In fact, they are cheap junk! She also would not combine shipping and I was charged $9 shipping, which is far more than the necklaces are worth. They were shoved in an envelope, which cost her 67 cents. However, it is MY fault. I did not check feedback prior to bidding. This seller has numerous negs, to which she posts the most awful vicious responses and leaves very nasty negs in retaliation. So, I will have to wait 90 days to leave my negs. I have the necklaces hanging either side of my monitor, to remind me to CHECK FEEDBACK!!! But I'm still still happy with eBay and won't leave. I have had so many good experiences that I won't let this one illiterate, greedy seller turn me away. Neuroter - you are right on, Karma will catch up eventually.

You bought? Do a CC chargeback! A scammer
did it to me (and another seller has since
informed me the same guy scammed him too).
If the scammers can do it, so can you!

ut-oh, jewelry, witty but cruel responses? Anyone else here thinking our Miss Fluffy?
lol>>>>>>just having fun at Fluffy's expense because I dont think Fluffy sells 14k and really I surmise she isn't as mean to her buyers as she puts on anyway. I dont see how she could be so successful if she were?

Earthmum, I like how you wrote me as neuro.
Fits me. One Neurological Nero, thats me! haha... Hey, been trying to think of a store name...how does that sound - would you buy from someone named neurological nero? (God, in weird mood today - trying to list and goofing around. Better stop it and move my arse. ::eyeroll:

Actually, *I* was thinking it might be me, except that I don't sell anything (other than very, very occasionally) gold or claiming to be gold.

It certainly does sound like one of my whiny it's-not-my-fault-I-couldn't-be-bothered-to-read my-uncle's-sister's-cousin-said-they-were-cheap-metal-so-they-must-be royal PITA customers.

Awful, vicious responses to such people? Sure. That's one of life's little pleasures.

Getting ripped on ebay may happen to everyone sooner or later and after 1000's of transactions I would consider myself lucky if it was only a $20 deal, it wouldn't make me want to leave.

You could spend more for something at a flea market or antique mall and overlook a repair or chip on an item and not get a refund either. Weigh your one bad experience against all the good ones you've had.

OMG - did I really sound like one of Fluffy's whining bidders? And Fluffy may leave cutting and acidic feedback but never, ever illiterate. The jewelry in question was advertised as 14k. No one had to tell me it was not once it arrived. I should have checked the feedback. I didn't this time. Not whining, just facts. By the way, does anyone know if you can leave feedback at the last minute (after 90 days), kind of like sniping?

TerraMomma:

Unfortunately, the 90day bit is only approximate -- many auctions stay in feeBay's databank (Robbie-the-Robot's left hemi) for much longer, & there is no way to predict nor plan for the appropriate vengence!

Tom - Waahhh! I guess I have to consider this a lesson. If you check out the auction (#2678708698) you will see why I am not even requesting a refund from this seller. I rather fancied myself as a large bird of prey, circling around for 90 days and then going into a power dive. Sigh.

I'm changing my "rules for bidding" on eBay. I won't bid on items offered by a seller who has less than 98% positive feedback. If it's a cheapie item, I might take a chance. If it's bigger ticket, I'm going to read some of the recent feedback before I bid even on that.

I hate the mall, so I'll continue with eBay. Forget about buyer protection. Even collecting on postal insurance is a pain, usually more trouble than it's worth.

Happy New Year to all!

earthmama: I read it but still don't understand why you're not requesting a refund. I do see that this seller doesn't know diddly about jewelry. Her usual gear is stoner stuff.

I don't see any reason why you should have to eat this transaction. I am assuming the necklaces are not marked 14k or equivalent.

Miss Madi.. While I empathsize with you, I've found many, many shops who 'don't' stand behind their sales of questionable or defective merchandise.
Try a warranty on a new SUV, $1,450 later, item supposed to be covered under warranty. Even dealer agreed...too bad for me.
Be it eBay, restaurants, etc...there's good and bad everywhere.
I hope you reconsider.
thanks

Fluffy - neither necklace is marked 14k. However, I sell mostly estate jewelry and have an electronic gold tester. I didn't even have to use it, the plating was worn off on the one necklace. Of course I am within my rights to request a refund; however, I don't think this harpy would respond favorably at all. I don't feel like getting into a pizzing match with a skunk. During the holidays I have picked up some really nice gold pieces. My luck was sure to run out at some point. By the way, Happy New Year to all!!

I've been screwed buying at the flea market more than any other place. In 4 years on E-Bay I've only been burnt once. I buy all my shipping suplies on E-bay and get excellent service from all the sellers I buy from. I know there are alot of crooks out there, but they are everywhere not just on E-Bay.

Earthmum, you have a cute way with words. I dont blame you for not wanting a verbal boxing match, though. But I think Fluffy is right -- at least try for the refund once!

I was in the 7-11 the other day and this guy came in professing to be selling 14k chains for $15.00 each because he didnt want to sell them to the pawn shop.
Told me he's sold to the girls behind the counter before. They were marked 14k, but all I could think was why are you hawking these in a 7-11? I dont think they were stolen - he had a real nice velvet wrap for them and seemed to know enough about jewelry. I just figured anybody can buy a jewelers tool and mark something 14k., so even then its possible its not authentic gold. And yeah, fell for it at the flea market myself a few years back! haha

I hope that you were bidding against me! One less person to bid against!

Of course I have had more hassles as a seller than as a bidder. One gal who has not paid for her dec 7 auction just became NARU so I will start the ball rolling on fvf's. If there are enough flakes to engender the hostile TOS's that I skim through on a regular basis, then it's no surprise that I have run into a few selling my small potatoes!

Sellers, heck, I love nearly every one I have worked with, and I have purchased high end camera gear on ebay! (my hasselblad is an ebay purchase along with my ebay light meter! Both are sooo lovely and sooo excellent to use!)

The only hassles I have had were small items and I have given negs for misrepresented items. One guy sent me replacements and another is NARU. But pound for pound, I have met more silly monkey's bidding than selling.
