I might be missing something, but I have noticed some Powersellers selling similar items to mine and then some with the items not even coming close to selling. How do these guys make money? The avg start price is .49 and the shipping is normal. Any ideas?

Ebay? discounts?? Not in this life time. They might be buying up stock in big clearouts where they are paying pennies on the dollar.
Volume sales help also, but in a lot of cases they may just want to get rid of a bunch of stock so they sell for next to nothing.
Some do make their money on shipping and handling.
You are right about one thing that some of them one has to wonder how they survive.

One popular theory is that they are using ebay to advertise their offsite businesses. Another popular theory is that most Power Sellers are dumb.

I'm a platinum powerseller. I guess I must be dumb to have attained the rank. Anyway I do get offered FLD's on occassion, and I have a cupboard full of Ebay coffee mugs.

Any other Power Sellers get offered FLDs from time to time?

I was recently offered the Bronze status of power seller but keep turning it down. Most everyone here seems to say it offers no advantage, and maybe even hurts sales. I'm interested also to know what the advantages are from everyone here on the board.

I was a P/S for a while.
Didn't help or hurt!
The only difference I saw was instead of receiving emails, I actually got info in the mail.
I see nothing wrong with it,I also see no advantage in it.

"Power seller" it's two words and means diddly!
