I use shipping assistant and I was wondering how many posters in here send the delivery confirmation number email to the buyer? I have started to use it on media mail but that is all. Opinions will be helpful. Thanks

Since there is no reference in the email to what auction is referred to, it's pretty useless.

And since DC isn't actually tracking, the record doesn't say anything useful until the item is delivered...at which point the recipient no longer needs to have the DC number.

I use Vendio Post Sale Tools, and each purchaser gets an email with the tracking, or the delivery confirmation number when the item is shipped.

As Fluffy said, the Delivery Confirmation number is rather worthless until it gets delivered.

However, we feel a shipment notification email helps the anxiety of the purchaser and cuts down on emails asking if it is shipped.

Since we use Endicia, we can copy and paste the delivery confirmation number into Post Sale quite easily at the time we print the label.

Libra, I have a solution for you. I can't believe I didn't think of this before.

As you know, you have to have the "E-mail the Confirmation Number?" box checked in Shipping Assistant. When you hit the Submit button, you get a pop-up that asks for this information:

From Name:
From E-mail:

To Name:
To E-mail:

All you really need to fill out are the two email blanks. That's so (obviously) your email can get to the intended recipient and so you can get a cc: in your mailbox.

OK.

So, you can put anything you want in those Name fields! It won't make any difference in sending the mail. They are just comments.

I tried this putting "eBay auction 2680700xxx" in the From Name field. The email the buyer gets looks like this:

From: [email protected]
To: Buyer <[email protected]>
CC: eBay auction 2680700xxx <[email protected]>

Dear Buyer:

Below is the Delivery Confirmation number...

etc etc etc

Try it out by generating a Submit request for yourself. I would definitely use the From Name field for the auction identifer as that string is repeated at the bottom of the email. The buyer can't miss it.

Remember, the From Name field is just a comment. You could put "Shoeless Joe from Hannibal Mo" or "Goodness gracious great balls of fire" there and it wouldn't make any difference. Might as well use the auction number.

Um, just to be on the safe side, don't use any punctuation in that string. That could mean something to USPS's mailer.

Thanks a bunch fluffy. I will try that, that is if the shipping assistant is working tonight. I tried earlier and I couldn't use it. I guess to many sellers sending their FLD items. I appreciate all the help I can get to make things easier.
