Lately I have had buyers pay me two and sometimes three times for the same auctions through PayPal..what's up with that?? I have refunded, only to have another payment appear a day or two later! Doesn't PP have any controls to prevent that?

Some people have all of the bad luck.

I don't think there is anyway to prevent it. Sometimes I have that happen quite a bit,I haven't figured out how people master that action yet.

Makes me panic when it happens - can't find the item and I never can remember from one day to the next what I have shipped! I figure it our eventually by checking post-sale but not before I turn the room upside down looking for the "lost" postcard!

I made a form to keep track of my auctions, which includes info of date payment is received & the date an item was mailed. It's easy, in cases like this, to check the status of an item.

Neglus - That's why I use Works. I can always search using the item number to find out what is going on. Since I am a night person and most of my customers insis on sending payment in the morning anything that helps me keep things straight is invaluable since my brain does not kick in until just before it's time to hit the post office.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

With my auction software I can see every sale for the past five years. All the information is there. No need to use additional software to keep track of items sold, shipped, feedback left, profit and all.

When it comes to double payments you just have to deal with it. It's easy to return using Paypal.

I agree, Paypal should throw up a red flag that the customer has to overide to be able to pay for the same item twice.

Actually, it only takes one drink to get me loaded. Trouble is, I can't remember if it's the thirteenth or fourteenth.

I can easily find whether an item has been shipped using Vendio or PayPal history search for item #...I guess I have to train myself to do this BEFORE the panic sets in and I turn everything topsy turvy!

THe PayPal red flag is what I was hoping for rampaged...you'd think it would be easy to do now that PP and eBay are integrated!!

The thing is that is a lot of expensive programing just to hold the hand of a small percentage of people. At what point in time are people supposed to be responsible for their own actions?

Stop refunding the payments. If this happens that regularly then just write up a form letter thanking them for their additional payment and let them know that you just wanted to check in to see if it was perhaps a mistake and should be refunded or if they had sensed that you were thinking of retirement and decided to contribute to your retirement fund.
