Hi All, lets have an old fashion straw vote. The board is a little dead right now so lets get it moving. If you agree with the 3 statements below just say YES, if you disagree say NO. I am not trying to start a discussion just trying to get things moving with an old fashion straw vote for the fun of it.

1- I think Ebay is a greedy company.

2- I think most of our politicians are self serving and lier's.

3- Its terrible that Americans companies are shipping American jobs overseas for cheaper labor.

Great idea to stir this up a bit.

#1 yes and no

#2 yes

#3 yes

You forgot reason four as to why these companys are sending everything to china and india.......the cheapskate consumer who wants everything for next to nothing!

So some of the blame has to go there. The other thing besides low wage workers overseas is the tax structure in north america....its too high.
Its way cheaper to produce the goods overseas and I can not see this coming to a halt anytime soon.
Sad but true.

(1) No
(2) Yes, Most are but there is a few good people.
(3) No. You can't have your cake and eat it to. The American Consumer wants every thing for nothing. But they want High wages. So the only thing That can be done is buy imports. We're cutting off our nose to spite our face.

#1 No ~ what makes you think they are greedy? It is a business and it is working. As I stated in another thread eBay is a 24 hour service which needs employees to man it all those hours. Is there anyplace that states how many employees eBay has? I am sure the technical help doesn't come cheap.

#2 Yes, I think term limits would be the way to go. Why give up the job when the Pay is extremely good, benefits out of this world and the Pay with travel time is out of this world.

#3. We priced ourselves out of jobs. They work for pennies but yet the product still sells for a good sum. Would you work for those wages? Auto workers that make $30-$40 dollars an hour. Our cost of living is way to high. When you can't buy a new home in Wisconsin for less than $250,000.00 and I am sure it is more in many places. I fear many forclousers coming.

1- I think Ebay is a greedy company.

No, its a company out to make money, like every other co. in America. I don't like the fee's but.....

2- I think most of our politicians are self serving and lier's.

Sure, as in any other 'profession' like in business, there are self serving and lying CEO's etc, so as for politicians, sure, some are, some aren't, some inbetween

3- Its terrible that Americans companies are shipping American jobs overseas for cheaper labor.

Yes, its awful for the jobs being taken away from American workers, but companys can't keep up with the high minimum wages, so they contract it out to places like India, where its pennys on the dollar to pay these people. I'd rather see Americans working these jobs but I don't make these companys rules.

1. No. Ebay makes money but so do those of us who work at it. If we didn't we would move on (or I assume you would move on if you were losing money)

2. Yes.

3. Yes and no. Yes that they are doing so but no in that we have priced ourselves out of the market. The consumers won't pay the price and the workers won't work for less so what choice do they have.

Edited to add:

I just increased my starting bids by $1.00 on the majority of my postcards. Sell through rates stayed the same. So, I can increase the bid and still sell the same. Why shouldn't I? Or, if you think Ebay is greedy then maybe all of us should go back to lowering our starting bids. Don't we all try to get the largest return for our money we can? Ebay is a business, plain and simple!

1- I think Ebay is a bit of a greedy company at times but aren't most companies? Some sellers are also accused of being greedy when they are only trying to make a profit.

2- I believe many of our politicians get more corrupt the longer they stay in power.

3-I think all the outsourcing of jobs and all the illegal immigration is seriously hurting North America. Time will tell.

BTW, I see you came back, Bigpeepa. You kind of left in a huff mid-November. I bet you missed all of us, didn't you?

Yup, the board has been somewhat dead but I think everyone is recovering from the holidays and trying to make money.

#1: Yes and no. Just another typical American company - like mine.

#2: Yes all but Dennis K who is so honest it's been detrimental to his political career.

#3: Thank the republicans. 'Nuf said.
Edited to add: Oops, and NAFTA (we have Clinton to thank for that)

Hi ... Libra well said...business is business - we all raise our rates.
Re: shipping overseas, this has been going on for decades...back in the 50s it was to Japan..in the late 70s the Japanese bought land in New York...everything was crying they'll take us over...then labor went to Korea...the Taiwan...Pakistan...now China...however, with each country their standard rose...
And, they bought more American goods.
One of the American economists said on CNN that everything American labor goes on strike or hits for a raise, the Eastern markets cheer.
I think everyone should be in the Marines or Army for 4-years, the operate a full time business for two years, then figure out what they want to do.

1. No. I think Ebay is a remarkably successful company. If I couldn't stand their fees, I'd go somewhere else.

2. Yes, they are.

3. If I really believed US jobs going overseas was a big problem, I'd stop shopping at WalMart, and so would everybody else.

what was the question again?

1# Nah, they are riding their wave. That is the American Way.

#2 - Politicians. If they at once had any value for the "best interest of the people", its long gone with on the game wheel of politics.

#3 Yes.
