OK I've asked everyone who has visited my house in the last two months and no one knows what these are. I haven't been able to find anything like them. Can anyone tell me what the heck these are??

I discovered them in the bottom of one of those $4.00 boxes from an auction.

They are glass and filled with liquid - yellow in color (stop giggling I know what you're thinking!).

Some guesses were:
Toothpicks (rounded edges - NOT!)
Cocktail picks
CIA Cynanide capsules (bite down when captured)
Some sort of scientific lab whatcha ma callit
A fifties medicinal dosage

As you can see, my friends at least have some imagination.

Anyone out there know what these really are??

Thanks in advance.

Gerri

Look like perfume samples to me. How long are they?

Perfume came in glass tubes or vials in the 60's to preserve their fragrance. You would snap one end off to sample the perfume. Can't imagine why they quit doing that, now can we??

Ampules of something?

Editing... Now that I see the picture full size I rather agree they're perfume samples. Any markings on them?

I guess I need a bigger picture.
Will redo and post.

Thanks for enlarging!

They are 2 1/4" in length, Itray. They came in a generic plastic snap closure box.

No, no markings that I can see with the naked eye or magnifying glass.

Do you think these are worth posting since I can't identify the perfume?

Thanks to all!
I found a couple of other ones Itray. Looks like most are going under $10.00.

I think I'll give it a try.

I appreciate your help.

Seriously, they probably originally had a piece of paper included that identified the perfume by the color coding on the end of the vial.

And another tidbit, when I was visiting Egypt a few years ago, I had the chance to visit a wholesale perfumery. They still had samples in vials. Guess Ralph Nader never made it to the Nile Delta.

I will promise to put this tag line on my auction:

These are glass. Do not give to children under three years of age. Choking hazard. If they don't choke, it's perfume which contains alcohol. They'll still be alive, but they'll get drunk.

Seems to me you could take one of the ampules outside and pop it open. If it smells like perfume, it probably is. I remember seeing things like this with perfume in them 'way back.

nips perfume

that's not the brand name, but use that name to search by.

I have some and one of the boxes actually says nips.

Yep Yep, perfume samples. I remember seeing them when I was younger. That would be my guess....break one open and see what it smells like!

I think one makes you larger...one makes you small?

OTOH: I hope you didn't get these from mother, cause they don't do anything at all!
