I posted a while back about a buyer I had from Germany. He stiffed me for over 200 dollars, promising payment and never coming thru. His MO seems to be to buy for a while, always in the same categories, get a few positives, then he begins stiffing people and eventually gets NARU'd. After a time, he comes back under a new name. He has done this to me twice in a year using two different ID's, both of which are now NARU. I've been emailing several other people who have been taken advantage of by this creep, and today one of them let me know that not only was the guy back under a new name, he's selling now to boot. The ID he's using now is only one letter different from the one he used a year ago. I had a friend email him with a question about one of his auctions, and he replied to it with the same name he has always used, apparently his real one. I've reported this to Ebay today. I can't believe Ebay fails to cross check new accounts to avoid this kind of thing. I am going to mail investigations daily, is there anything else that can be done? There is zero percent chance this is a mistake....

Two things are in the bad sellers favor

The number of active users, defined as people who listed, bought or sold an item in the previous 12 months, was also up nearly 50 percent to 41.2 million.

You can always bid on one of his auctions. So can the others he stiffed

Emotionally, I'd like nothing better than to run one of his auctions up to the stratosphere and then burn him, but I'd be cutting off my nose to spite my face, so that's out of the question.

I recommend that you pre-qualify your bidders. You can then avoid the risk of someone on whom you previously filed NPB coming back under a new ID and harassing you. I wouldn't rely on feedback figures, there are shills out there that trade positive feedback all the time. On the same token there are sellers that must budget for the 20 dollar bills they give eBay to remove the occassional negative.

Aww professor....create a bogus ID and do it. Give him a taste of his own soup!

You'd feel so, so much better.

update...I have emailed Ebay three times, and this guy is still selling. Yesterday, after sending him a question about one of his items thru a friend's account, he replied and included his name, address, and phone number as well as the new email he's using. They are identical to the signature he used with his suspended account. I copied both emails, the one I had on file from his suspended account, and the new one I got yesterday in another complaint to Ebay, so we'll see if they do anything. I've made it pretty easy for them. I'm guessing it wouldn't be a good idea to post that information here, would it???

Update. The suspended buyer is still happily buying and selling. I have even sent Ebay copies of the emails from him under two different ID's where he gives the same address in the signature. Proof that it's the same person. I cannot believe Ebay allows this to continue. It makes those of us who try our hardest to follow Ebay's regulations look like total fools! I've never reported anyone before, but my experience so far tells me that the system Ebay has in place is a complete JOKE. Where's the incentive to abide by the reg's when it's obvious that Ebay doesn't care a button about them themselves?

profe51 - I don't know if it's O.K. to say who this person is in this format, But I don't see why you couldn't give the auction number.

He has used the names amanti1, nanti1, and johg30 in the past. nanti1 was his most recent user ID, but as of today, he is NARU!!! I got a real nice letter from Ebay Germany thanking me....I guess it just took a while. Now, there's a small group of us who all sell in pretty much the same categories who are watching for German bids. We've agreed to notify each other if and when he comes back. I'm betting he will...what fun
