Okay, here I am again with questions about international buyers that bid anyway even though I say US shipments only. Oh, Well. It's a great toy and it is on its way back to Germany where it was made. Anyway, what is the fastest and safest way for me to have him pay? I am on my way to the USPS site to try to figure out how to have it sent to him. Any suggestions on that? Thanks so much you guys.

Since you never sell internationally and you can't figure out the shipping I would ask your buyer. Evidently he has done business in the US before so he should know. I know when I sell internationally and I don't know the shipping I ask my buyer as they are happy to help. If it wasn't for my international buyer I wouldn't know about air letter post. I always shipped global priority and air letter post is much cheaper and it takes less than a week. But I doubt if yours can go that way but I would ask the buyer.

How big is the toy?
What does it weigh?

If it's small enough:Global priority flat rate. limit 4 lbs.

Otherwise the options will depend on what he's willing to pay.Ground or Air.

Payment: I take paypal from anyone anywhere.
Not many will suggest that but I've had no trouble.
International M.O. good choice.

The toy went to $475 so I really want to double box it. I don't think it is possible to keep it down to four pounds doing that. I suppose shipping to Germany is the same problem as shipping to Canada. Custom forms. Is it the general concensus that I should ask for an international money order? Is BidPay a bad idea?

Bidpay should be your first choice. International postal money order your second. Cash via registered mail should be your third choice (actually a preferred payment method by many European buyers). Don't even entertain the thought of Paypal. Too much risk to you and you have to pay the fee for taking the unnecessary risk.

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

If your buyer paid that much for the item then I am sure he will be willing to go the extra mile and pay for shipping and insurance. I think that is a hefty charge but it is protection for the buyer.

I managed to double box the toy and still keep it down to 2 pounds and 6 ounces. I think Global Priority would be a good way to go. Now the problem is that when I run the information through the USPS website, it doesn't show that you can insure the package. The only option seems to be a Certificate of Mailing. That isn't going to replace the toy if something goes wrong. No insurance?

you can have this global priority box sent as registered mail,it is insured up to a certain amount.
you need to check with usps what is the max amount insured going to germany.
did you check EMS,it is auto insured up to 250 or is it 500?? i think it was 500 and downgraded to 250.check it out.

It has to go by Air Parcel Post if you want insurance, and if it weighs 4 lbs. it will cost $26.85. Don't take Paypal. Sparkz gave you all the payment options, and you can add bank transfer to that list. As a general rule you're better off telling the German what to do, rather than asking. They follow rules well.

Bidpay is the only way to go for overseas payments. I find it works the best for me in this situation.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?
