I received an instant payment made by a customers Debit card. I have a personal account and PayPal is charging for this payment. Will I be automatically be upgraded to a premier or business account if I accept the payment? I have been emailing PayPal but no replies.
Thanks.

I dont think you can use a debit card with paypal. It's most likely a debit VISA card which is debit card but is accepted as a VISA transaction. If you do accept it, they will upgrade you and you will now pay fees on every transaction.

Thanks for all your help. I denied the payment and a PayPal page came up asking if I did not want a premier account. That is sneaky calling it an instant payment instead of saying Debit. The sender tol me he used a debit card or i would not of questioned it.

Debit cards work exactly the same as credit cards for the retailer. You get charged the same fee to accept them and run them through the credit card machine as well. The only difference is where the money comes from. If paypal is asking you to upgrade, the payment is from a card.
And if you accept it, you will automatically be upgraded and will get charged for every transaction.
