Hi rarriffle.........

No, nothing has been done except that what was salvagable after the hurricane is in storage. The house is so badly damaged it can't be repaired, it has to be torn down.
Inside it looks just like it did the night the tree fell on it, September 18th.

What's holding things up now is the insurance co. is offering twenty thousand less than the builder wants so that's not settled. So far they have been very decent
paying expenses, but I kind of knew this was coming. All we want is what we had & that is what I expect & will hold out for.

We did meet with an architect, Karen McK Wood, found her on Google & she lives only four miles from us in Chadds Ford. I liked her soon as I met her. Next Tuesday we & the builder will meet at her office to go over details. She has been here to measure & probably has the new floor plan ready, which I am anxious to see.

In the meantime I am living in this miserable trailer. So far the heater fan burned out,(repair bill 530.00) the water froze & the toilet backed up.
The heater is fixed & the water thawed out, we keep it running around the clock to prevent it freezing again, the toilet is fixed, seems it froze too. For some reason that no one can figure we do not have any hot water & the hot water heater is working!
The hot water faucet works, but the water coming out is ice cold. It's hot in here when the heater is running & cold when it turns off.

I know I'm going to be stuck here for probably another five months. To top it off, this January has been one of the coldest on record.

Only thing that keeps me going is that I this is not forever, even though it's beginning to feel like it.

Thank you for asking, it makes me feel good that your thinking about me.

Jane

Jane, if you can afford it, why not go to a hotel for a couple of days? Just to give yourself some pampering.
Are you still listing any auctions?

good suggestion, maybe a hotel room with a hot tub for extra pampering?

may god make this an adventure in your memory someday!

please keep us posted on the progress, a lot of us have you in our thoughts and prayers.

I would love to check into a hotel for a few days, but can't. Forgot to tell you that we are sharing this place with 8 cats & a dog.

I shower at the neighbors & at a friend's house & enjoy every minute of it

Yes, I am listing, I list under mcjane, but not like I used to, I just list a few every Sunday. It's not easy because of a space problem. My stamps are not in storage, they are in a shed out back of the house so every week I go up the hill & pick out some to list. The driveway is snow covered & it is too cold to melt, just one more thing to make things miserable. I am dreaming of Spring. I guess everyone is.

I will probably will have some memories about this someday, good ones too.
The best thing about it is we are on our property right down the hill from our house & can watch the new one being built. If that day ever comes.
