I keep looking to see if anyone is talking about the extra 10 characters for the titles. Since Ebay is making lots and lots of changes it seems they would address this one again as well.
I'm beginning to think I'm the only one who is anxiously awaiting the change! It's something I have wanted since day 1 with Ebay over 5 years ago and keep hoping it isn't going to be "forgotten" about and just lost in the shuffle.

No, you're not alone! I too will be happy to see the 55 character space.
I am thinking, though, that this will allow fewer titles on the big search page than previous, since the 55 characters will undoubtedly most of the time use more than one title line. So not as much will show up on the first page when people are searching. Not sure if that's a minus.
I'm also guessing that after awhile the 55 characters won't seem like enough and because we're only human we're going to want 60 or 70!!! LOL

That extra line below the title is a great tool. It shows up really good when you go into the search page. It's to bad that eBay can't get that into the description and title search part. I think that would be more of a plus that the extra spaces.

Only if it was free
I would never ever pay for it for any of my $5 postcards But, I could sure use those extra characters for some of the descriptions. Just a couple of extra spaces will do wonders for me

Consider this: Everyone gets the extra title characters, including your competitors. Including the people who do keyword spamming.
Your auctions may be harder for people to find in a list of results, not easier.

Postcards don't rely on "keywords" they rely on title search. I can't get the object and name of city and state in 45 characters, so I am not in the least concerned about my "competitors".
I just want to be able to put words in titles without leaving out spaces etc as I now have to do
Sellathon wouldn't help me much either. Postcards are a whole different item than most. The people buying them either lived in the city, went to church in the church, played in the park, stayed in the hotel, or collect that particular type of postcard.
So, all it takes to be successful is enough info in the title to make people look Yes, I know description search is good too, but I would prefer it to all be there in plain easy view. Ebay changes their minds toooooo often for me to rely on description search since they have now promised the additional characters. I'm just afraid they aren't going to deliver because it doesn't seem to matter to very many people

Hi Lindajean, this is from vendio announcements, Vendio is all set for it:
Title & Description Date:
Start/End Status Code Status Affected Systems
eBay Title extension to 55 characters
X00287
eBay previously announced they would be increasing the maximum allowable characters in Titles to 55 (from 45) starting in "mid-February." All words contained in the new 55 character title will be searchable in Title search, just like today.
As mid-February approaches, we want to let you know Vendio is ready to support these additional Title characters in Sales Manager and Sales Manager Pro shortly after eBay releases the changes to their site and confirms they are stable. Support for these added characters in Inventory will follow a bit later.
We look forward to offering you these additional 10 characters to describe your items with additional detail.
We will update this message when eBay launches the feature.

This is the one improvement I've been waiting for, for six years now.
Now instead of just managing to slip in an occasional RARE at the tail-end of my title, I can more often put something like: WOW! REALLY RARE AWESOME! L@@K!
Ok, I'm kidding (sort of), but this definitely is a good eBay decision, and I for one will be very glad to not have to abbreviate some of my more difficult-to-describe titles.
