Hey, guys!

I usually lurk here but thought of you sellers today when I watched the morning news. Especially after reading the thread about how carefully one must pack delicate collectibles.

A Fed-Ex 18 wheeler turned over heading south out of Austin, Texas at 3:00 AM this morning. The local news showed the trailer ripped open and packages strewn across the highway. Another Fed Ex truck reloaded all the packages and continued with them after a 6 hour or more delay.

The the 18 wheeler had hit 3 huge potholes on I-35 in a temporary lane while driving through a construction area. The potholes apparently were further undercut by recent rains and collapsed when the truck hit them. The truck fell over against the north and south bound dividing concrete barrier and the very heavily traveled interstate has been shut down for hours.

The driver survived, but many of the items in the packages may not have. Makes you wonder how often that sort of thing happens to a seller's goods before they arrive at in the hands of the disappointed buyer!

Not to add to any seller's worries, but gives a bit more credibility to a complaining buyer who might be thinking "how poorly an item must have been packed". Neither buyer nor seller would likely know such an event had occurred.

Have fun,
Patty

I have one that delivers in Houston and another for Ft. Worth tomorrow. I just checked and they were both scanned at Ft. Worth at about 1:30 today. Hopefully neither of them were on that truck. And yes, both items were glass!

The light at the end of the tunnel will turn out to be an oncoming train.

Fed Ex truck turns over in South Austin

I hear some guy with long hair and a scraggly beard is now trying to build a raft using a ice skate, videotape, and part of a portapottie.

Signed,

Mr. Melvin

Fluffy,

I don't know if you are referring to an actual individual, but sounds very much like the constant stream of unusual and creative individuals I have seen when I worked in downtown Austin across from the largest university in America. (55,000 or so students in attendance) There has been a boat on a trailer that drives down the street (no vehicle to tow it), a very tall unicyle, girl with t-back shirt with iguana riding the back attached by a leash, a white dog colored lime green with hair dye, and the usual street punk and funk fashions. Very entertaining. Motor cycle riding dogs, a Keith Richards look-alike in fru fru feathered knee-hi's, high heels and sparse leather coverage of key areas, Elvis, vampires. Students dressed in full wizard regalia, occasional topless women (legal in Texas), and more.

But the inventions like you mention are the best. Are you sure you aren't flashing back to an episode of Survivor?

LOL!

Fluffy, I've got water pooling on top of my hill here 60 miles north of Houston.

I saw that guy in my lower pasture yesterday morning. Making a heck of a racket with the sawing & nailing. Already had pairs of animals waiting in line.

Made for great hunting this am.

Massachusetts is about to become the first state to allow gays and lesbians to marry. Now here's the part I don't understand -- why would a gay guy want to marry a lesbian? ....Jay Leno

ROFL ! Fluffy was describing the movie Cast Away with Tom Hanks ....He survived on stuff in FedEx boxes that washed ashore.Course it was an over turned FedEx plane but it was meant to be funny Sanmar....the topic I believe is a true story saying if your packages don't make it or at least in one piece you know why ....Cause a FedEx Truck wrecked in Austin

Edited to add lol meadowlark I'd never get any work done watching the freak show your talking about....were a small town so pink highlights and a couple of extra piercings make people stare here

toasted,

Thanks! It went right over my head, despite having seen "Castaway" at least twice! Must be early sign of "old-timers" disease.
