For your amusement:

"Hello,
I was the high bidder on your 2 items
#26xxxxxxxx & Ebay 26xxxxxxxx. Unfortunately we were unable to conclude
these transactions resulting in 2 eBay infractions, resulting in my account
being suspended. Could you please assist me in this matter. I would be
willing to pay immediately if you still have the item. If not please
"release" me from the bid. I am a powerseller doing this for a living and
this is really hurting.

"Follow the attached instructions to remove the NPB Alert..."

Isn't that a song title:

Please release me, let me go.
I don't owe you any more.

Now, this is interesting .

You see, the lots he didn't pay for are now worth more than they were when he won them. (Silver has increased in value in 2004.) Is he offering to pay now because all of a sudden, it's "such a deal"?

Wonder if he's done this to anyone else.

I had someone email me yesterday begging me to remove the NPB on him because the "check is in the mail" (it actually was - it arrived today), and he really needed to be reinstated.

Problem was I didn't even get around to filing one yet.

Right, there have to be at least two other sellers he's stiffed, but is he trying to buy the stuff at the (now) bargain price from them, too? It was more than 30 days ago, so I don't know what he bid on.

It could be a buying strategy. Bid on a bunch of precious metal lots. Default. If the spot price subsequently goes down, just get yerself a new eBay ID. If the spot price subsequently goes up, try to close the original deal.

If you do this on enough material, you could make some money.

Charge them for it!

I used to have a canned email that I would use in these circumstances. It went something like... The records for Auctions that far back have been archived. If you want us to reverse this we will have to research those archived files. As we are a business, and I have not found any employees who will work for free, this activity will cost me money out of pocket. If you would like to pay for this I will accommodate you. If so please send a USPS(only) money order for $50.00 to...

I would guess that perhaps 3 or 4 people asked me for this, no one ever paid the money, although one said the were.

I once got an email to reverse a FVF on an account that I submitted at least 2 years ago! That was good for a hearty laugh. I do not (and never will) remove or reverse NPB and FVF.

My once and future PowerSmeller carried on a frenzied correspondence with me last night. First he said he had bought a BidPay money order to pay for *one* of the two auction lots...so please, won't I go do the NPB reversal thing RIGHT NOW?

I calmly advised him we ship when BidPay payments are approved.

Yes, yes, thank you, he responded, but please please please remove the NPB now!

Since I haven't even gotten a BidPay (Auction Payments) ORDER PENDING email, I doubt this person's veracity. And he'll have to pay for both lots, obviously.

Please, my family's income depends on this, he begged.

It's getting to be quite comical.

Man, oh man. I just got a ORDER DENIED from Western Union for the one money order this guy tried to purchase.

(He has been persistent in email, insisting he has paid for both deadbeated lots.)

I've never seen an ORDER DENIED email before.

Just shows to go ya: Once a scumbag, always a scumbag.

Damn! One of the sellers relented. He's no longer a resident of NARUville. And he's got 56 auctions running now.

If there was ever a case where you want to warn bidders, this would be it. (I know, I know, it's a no-no.)

Yeah -- and now, he might "smarten" up a bit and not use that id for buying again - so there isn't a way to get him naru-ed again... damn!
