I'm sick and tired of e-bay sellers who don't acknowledge Payment when they get it and don't leave feedback when they are paid right away.....the personal touch has gone down the drain.....It doesn't take much time to keep a customer happy...

Along the same line... I'm sick and tired of buyers who choose media rate shipping and it's stated in the auction it takes 1-2 weeks to arrive, you email them the delivery confirmation number the day you ship (which is the same day they paid) and they leave you a negative feedback for slow shipping...

or....

The buyer who requests you leave feedback first, then when the item arrives new in shrinkwrap states they don't like it and you better make good on the purchase with some sort of refund or they will turn you in to ebay, the FBI, the internet police, and their cousin who's a lawyer...

Trust me - we don't know who the good buyers are when the do their first purchase.

An email when they ship is reasonable, though.

Not ALL sellers are that way. I always send a email saying payment recd.and another email when I ship the item.

Feedback is different, I leave feedback when I know they have recd their item and are happy with it.Very few leave it when paid. The transaction/sale is not done until the buyer has recd their item !!

Every seller is different on ebay, If it means that much to you, ask before you bid, Then you will know.

Some of us still have the persoanl touch and still care about customer service.

as far as the Payment Recieved notice, I don't send that out unless I'm going to hold their check for 7 days.

the day I get their payment, they get a "your item has been shipped" notice from VD.

I do like to get an email from a seller when he recieves my payment but if he is busy mailing my item I do not have a problem with it. As a seller I do email when I recieve payments. I never expect the seller to leave feedback first and as a seller I never do. The sale is not complete untill the buyer has recieved the item and is happy with it or returns the item.

Mitch3...my apology...
now for both sides of the coin..
---------

..i received 120 positives in the last 12 months..i enjoyed 152 completed contracts..the 32 who didnt post were all buyers.. of this 32, 25 of them had a feedback of less than 20..further analysis showed that many of these 25 buyers received f/back from the seller and never returned the courtesy..
-----------------

..i do buy on ebay, and because of my attitude toward f/back, i wont allow a seller to neglect posting f/back, when i have paid, as you have, IMMEDIATELY. and, i act similarly when it comes to MY MONEY..when i submit paypal or money order, seller gets an email...i expect confirmation...if i read their auction, and get the "vibes" that seller not capable, willing to do so, HELL, I DONT BID..this is not meant to be "right or wrong," just my way..and to be honest, couple years ago, i had a seller neglect me for two months...i got his attention when i simply sent him an email, telling him he was 28 days from a negg...so on your side of the coin, i can get just as sick and tired as the next..

if you want courteous service ,why not try shopping at brick and mortar stores?you can examine the merchandise, speak to the sales clerk and take the goods with you.they probably will thank you too as they hand you the merchandise, you also get a receipt.
if you want to return the item, you can always go back ,they dont disappear overnite.

When I receive payment I email my buyer that I received it and I will be mailing their package the next day. If I am unable to mail it I will email you the exact day.

Sometimes when I have their package ready and my mail doesn't come until 2 pm I will go mail it and then come back and tell that buyer I received his payment and his package is in the mail.

This makes life easier for me. I know then that I only have the USPS to worry about and since I have only a few (4) lost I don't worry to much. Of course eDC is on all my packages.

I notify customers as soon as I receive payment and let then know their item is on the way. But I did start a new policy this year that I leave NO feedback until the buyer leaves theirs first. My reason I got sick of people trying to use feedback to get free merchandise off of me by threating to leave bad feedback if I did not comply. This last year was terrible for that. I have my new policy listed on all my auctions. The feedback system has become a game with a lot of people instead of what it was intended for. As far as a number of ratings I have on E-Bay, I couldn't care less. I sell on E-Bay for money not status.

I acknowledge, since I use eBay seller assistant and it is easy enough to do. I ship a lot of media mail too, and I get lots of inquiries even though I tell them in the payment received acknowledgement that media mail can take more than a week.

As far as feedback, I simply ignore requests for feedback to be left as soon as payment is received, because as far as I am concerned, that is not the end of the transaction. Feedback is a PITA, so with my automated program, I pretty much don't worry about it. I write on my invoice that it will be automatically returned, and I leave it at that.

I always send email when item is shipped. Since I mail daily, I combine the "payment received" and "item shipped" email into one

I also leave feedback when item is shipped. Will I get burned someday...probably. But, why penalize everyone else for a few idiots?

And, I don't have time to worry about whether or not they have posted feedback for me. I am onto new listings and more sales

I even received a bounced check this week from someone I had posted positive for. I may get the mo they promised and I may not. But, I still see no reason to penalize others for this persons mistake so I will not change my policy.

I have been on Ebay since 1998 and just this year decided to turn it into a full time operation. Some of us still use the friendly old way of doing things and when I can't do things that way it will be time to move on to some other line

I have never understood people who spend days worrying about a $3 refund or even a $10. I will lose $15.90 + $5 bank fees if don't get the money from the bounced check but it isn't going to break me and it isn't going to give me an ulcer. I only mention it to show we all run into problem bidders but that doesn't have to affect the way we do business.

BTW: I'm not lindajean on Ebay

lindajean -- You have a healthy attitude on this subject. YIt sounds like you don't agonize over a wrong feedback and put the occasional bounced check into yesterday real fast.

We can't let the occasional bad buyer distract us from the real issue at hand, which is to sell as much as possible as fast as possible.

I give pos. FB and send an "item shipped" notice as soon as I get payment.

I am curious as to how many hours you spend doing eBay full time.

stop whining posted, "if you want courteous service ,why not try shopping at brick and mortar stores?"

Well, THAT is no guarantee, is there any other way to get courteous service? Yup, eBay does pretty much kill the courteous gene with the way they treat their sellers.

I don't tell the buyer I received payment unless thet send cash. A check, MO, or Paypal acts as its own receipt.

I receive perhaps two complainys per year.

I don't leave a buyer feedback until it is left for me.

For a seller to leave feedback immediately after receiving payment is a foolish thing as the buyer can then leave a negative feedback because the post office did something to the item.

I'm sick and tired of ebay sellers and buyers who keep thinking there is only one way that things should be done........ and it's usually the way they do it.

Methods that work for one will not work for all but obviously many fail to see that.

I have 7 negative feedbacks - 2 are positive comments and they hit the wrong button (still can't figure that out), 2 or 3 were defective videos that they never emailed me about (a would have refunded or exchanged) and the rest were the fault of the post office.

I didn't leave negative back to these people (and in most cases I had already left positive first), but the point is those instances have decreased since I don't leave feedback first. Buyers tend to be more open to email you with a problem since their feedback is on the line too.

I agree with Kiara, though - whatever works for you....

I agree with you 100% ihula - When feedback is not left first, I've found people are more willing to contact me, and try to resolve a problem. I'm actually amazed at how much buyers actually care about feedback, but I am glad they do - It works in my favor. As a buyer on my buying account, I don't care what type of feedback I get. I does NOT hurt me in ANY WAY WHATSOEVER

As soon as they pay I send out the "shipped" notice and feedback and that's the end of it. I just don't have time to spend checking to see if someone has FBed me first.

I only have 2 negs in 1300+ feedbacks, so negs don't mean much to me. That's not to say I wasn't POed when they showed up, though.

As a seller and Buyer I use One, ID name and I leave feedback when I ship, its just easy that way for me to do. I don't worry about receiving a neg. they usually are for a dumb reason if I do get one so I stopped worrying about them,

I don't care if any of my buyers leave me feedback either, I leave it and my work is done.

As a buyer I am trying hard to adjust to each sellers terms and ways of how they do business, most of them I come across are very slow to ship, and are very poor with keeping me informed, but I just relax for a few weeks and if the item still hasn't arrived I contact them and give them a wake up call.....lol..........I pay within min. of auction end with paypal or bidpay but I am still finding that the sellers are not in a hurry to ship out items.

I have been on Ebay since 1998, and like most of the sellers I am getting burned out and this is the first time in so long that I am just tired of listing auctions. But as usual I will get back into it and I hope it's soon, but so much has changed here at Ebay that it's just a little discouraging to Sell and I am finding that it is the same about buying. "feels good to vent"...lol

Hi Pelorus:

Sorry I didn't see your question until today. I've had a cold and been in bed.

I spend approx 8 hours a day on Ebay but only about 30 minutes a day doing emails.

I use AuctionSage and the emails only take a couple of clicks and the feedback the same.

That is why I move on after I ship and just hope for the best. With my two Ebay ID's I have over 2,000 FB and only 1 neg which I received as retaliatory to the one and only neg I ever left anyone the first month I did Ebay.

I have yet to have anyone not honor a bounced check (although I do have doubts about the current one) and I also offer a 100% money back gaurantee which I have only had to give to 2 customers. One didn't read the description and one was my fault on missing information in my description.

Both gave me positive feedback. If Ebay made me angry all the time I couldn't do it I might as well go back to my job as an accountant and make lots more money.

But, the few bad apples on Ebay don't spoil the bunch for me so I keep plugging along.

Once I get everything set up like I want it I should be able to cut my hours of working on Ebay down to about 5 or 6 a day Changing auction services and relearning the whole process has really slowed me down.
