OCD Obsessive Compulsive Disorder.
This guy has this compulsion to "collect" things.......
he's got this storage unit full of things he's collected. They're trying to make him throw things away and he starts trying...puts on this pair of sunglasses..and I think "wait! those would sell on Ebay"
oh god I'm a goner..........
I'm guilty! I'm a 'hoarder'.......
I looked for the story on their website but it just has OCD.

Dateline NBC - Sunday, March 14th @ 6 P.M. CST
Phil Catlett has a problem. He collects just about everything - most of it worthless junk. It's called hoarding, and doctors believe it's a form of Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. Catlett claims he can't stop - but his obsession could ultimately cost him his most valuable possession - his family. Hoda Kotb reports.
ok, I'm going back on the Zoloft tomorrow.....

My wife knew someone that was a hoarder - he shot himself and later they said hoarding was a "sign" that he was messed up mentally.

my good friends husband is like this. the things he brings home have no rhyme or reason. ex....12 partially melted ice cream cakes that were being discarded by the Dairy Queen....2 CASES of plastic lunchboxes discarded by the Dollar Store.

I started watching it and fell asleep. Hope I can catch it in reruns. Must be scary for ebay sellers to watch!! This is a complusion. But its also a developed habit too that can be broken. Last week I cleaned out two boxes full of stuff I am giving to goodwill. I doubt I will ever get to listing it, so out it goes.

I wish I'd caught it on tape. I could probably use watching it again & I know of a few others around me that didn't watch it that needed to watch it....like my husband and ltray.
my husband can't have just one of something...he's got to have a gazillion of them. thank God that doesn't go for wives also LOL.
It's really hard for him to pass something on, like worn out clothes and stuff. I usually have to just throw them out when he's not home.
At last count I think he had 60 something golf shirts hanging in his closet.
Somebody send me a copy of the program! I'll tape it and send it back!!!

I watched Dateline too, but there is a real difference between that guy and us, we can't WAIT to get our things sold and out of here!

He is a dumpster diver and he would never have any of the junk he had IF he have had to PAY for it. Grabs a broken vacum cleaner on the street trash pile. If that had been FOR SALE and the seller said $10.00 he would have dropped it like a HOT potatoe.
No comparison to e bay sellers. Oh, we MIGHT get LUCKY once in a while but I am sure MOST of us pay for what we sell.
He was and is and ALWAYS will be a TRASH collector.

well it wasn't so much as the dumpster diving part....it was everything was all "I might use/need this someday" and "no, I can't throw that away, it's good stuff" that got me. I've got things like that...I like them.
