global priority mail -small envelope is about 5 dollars.
but you are better shipping first class in your own box.

You cannot ship Priority outside the U.S. Try Airmail Letter Post

dorrie darling...where have you been? in the stone age? hello?

of course you can ship global priority mail. you can not use the priority mail tape that you use here in the US, you can't use the US priority mail envelopes...but they do have different size PM envelopes for Global. The first answer was right, however I don't see any harm in shipping in the small envelope if it fits. Even the large priority mail envelope is a good deal.

ltray was trying to convince me that the larger size PM (global) is a lot like letter post. It 'sounds' like it has to fit in a PM envelope but if you read the size qualifications, as long as it's under a certain size limit then you can ship GPM.

dorrie,

glassgrl explained it better than I could. I ship lots of things to western Europe via Global Priority Mail. But, if it's a fairly light item (less than a pound), might want to check the rate on Air Mail Post, can be less, with about the same delivery time. Recently mailed a shirt to Switzerland via Air Post...there in 4 days. Very light though.

Cheers,

Tam

Do the Global Priority envelopes have some sort of tracking, or confirmation code, that is not available on Air Letter Post?

It seems the last global priority we sent had a bar code number on it.

Any insights as to usefulness of this number, or how it compares to Air Letter Post for delivery confirmation options.

brimic, you can always check out the U.S. Post Office web site for shipping rates.

It does have a code on it but it cannot be tracked. I have no idea what that code does. I use Air Letter Post for most of my items and that can take up to 4 pounds according to my postal clerk. Takes less than a week to get to your buyer. What is good about this is that you can protect your product. You can also protect in the global Priority envelope but a little harder to do since the envelope is just that and it is cardboard. Air Letter Post can be a bubble envelope.

First, there is no tracking on Global Priority Mail. Or Air Post. Period. And no insurance. However, I find it very reliable.

uh, stopwhinning....would love to know your sell through rate to western Europe...am sure you would be happy to share your success rate with us...your USPS rates are way off. But, maybe you know something we don't. Hey, help out some friends!!!

Way off how? Small Global Priority envelopes are $5 to most countries and flat rate up to 4 Lbs. Isn't that what he/she said?

Just go to http://ircalc.usps.gov/ and look it up. It will show all the options available and the rates.

Tammy - I'm curious as to where Stop is off? The small Global Priority envelope is $5, the large is $9 and they have to weigh under 4 pounds.

In case you wanted to question my credentials - I list on average 200-300 items a week to the UK with a 80-85% sell thru rate. Today I shipped packages to England, Scotland, Ireland, South Africa and Bahrain.

I primarily use Air Mail parcel post but depending on the customer, the purchase and the time of year, will spring for Global Priority

tammy,
i dont sell too many items on ebay,so there is really no success or secret in shipping charge.
what you sell and how you pack make some difference,i buy my shipping supplies and they are all new and clean.
i let them pay me via paypal so there is risk there, and paypal fee for overseas credit card is more than domestic.
dont feel bad about charging a few dollars more on shipping,it helps to pay for the wear and tear of you and your car.

gousainc,
that global pirority envelope barcode means something to the post office.
several years ago the post office clerks told me that global priority mail is no better than first class mail since they make some changes to their express mail delivery.
if you want fast delivery,go with express mail.
if you want to ship air cheap up to 4 lbs,use global priority over first class shipping.
with global priority we cannot take out insurance,so this could be a problem for items we want to insure.

I have found this to be true as well. I use primarily air mail and those packages arrive in about the same time frame as global priority. And the cost of air mail is usually much less.
