After five years on ebay, over three thousand sales and 100% positive feedback ebay has suspended my account. They canceled over 100 of my active auctions, which had a current "bidded on" value of over $400.00. The reason that was given for the suspension is;

"False or missing contact information - Falsify or omitting your name, address, and /or telephone number (including use of fax machines, pager numbers, modems or disconnected numbers"

My name has not changed, nor has my address or phone number. My phone is still connected. I don't know what is going on but I am MAD. When I replied to their email, I get a auto respond thanking for emailing. They say they will email me back in 48 hours. That will take it into Saturday.

Does anyone know a phone number to ebay? Or an active email address of someone there? Has anyone been suspended before. What does one do?

I sure could use some help.

Don't know if this is up to date, but it's worth a try:

PLEASE use discretion and common sense when deciding which method to contact ebaY. Use the least agrressive first ebaY's contact form or Safe Harbor and then escalate to suit the situation. Misuse will only cause ebaY to change their phone numbers.

sparkz;
Thanks for the numbers. I'll try them today. Hopefully one of them is still good.

jackswebb;
Powerseller status means nothing at this point. I can't get into anything concerning my powerseller account no matter which door I try to open! They did let me get to my payment account screen. It says that my account is active, no past due amount owed, and the current amount, $400.00 isn't due untill the 25th which is my normal billing day.

More then anything whats really starting to tick me off is that they shut me down in a heart beat, for a boag-ass reason, then they give very limited means to communicate with them to quickly fix the problem. I am not impressed with ebays customer service at point.

curtisj3: You might want to go through your email to see if you received a message from eBay with a 48 hour notice.

That's the standard procedure when someone complains that your contact info is false. I had a customer try to do this to me TWICE (the same customer!) recently. eBay's response is to send the seller a notice stating they have 48 hours to update their registration information or they will be suspended.

eBay was actually on the verge of suspending my account because, when they called me, no one answered. Can you believe that crap?

Now is when you step back and look at what you are doing, find ways to minimize your eBay expense. See if any other venues are now operating that may suit your needs IN ADDITION to eBay. Examine all vendors offering eBay services cheaper, marketers and the marketplace change. Take the pause in the action to look for any acceptable method to reduce fees and enhance your bottom line. Don't forget about minimizing your monthly payment to eBay. Is your scale accurate? Do you pack in an efficient manner? Do you duplicate any work? Are you doing un-necessary steps out of habit? Have you even bothered to do a flow-chart? Is your office neat? If it is, what's wrong with you?

Oh, and two buck chuck should be expensed under fuel costs as a lubricant. And remember to fine tune your eBay charges.

sparkz, Thank you for the phone numbers to Ebay. I was able to make contact with the 1-800-322-9266 number, however the hours of operation given should be Eastern Standard Time rather then Pacific Time. Their Customer Service & Safe Harbor departments close at 2:00 p.m. E.S.T. (must be so they can enjoy the California sun) and are not open weekends. I got through late Friday afternoon and was unable to talk to anyone that could help. I have to wait till Monday.

fluffythewondercat, You’re right, there was some kind of problem with the phone. Matt at ebay “live” has told me that Safe Harbor has listed my phone number as disconnected. I don’t know why because I have yet to talk directly to anyone at Safe Harbor about it. I have checked my emails and never got a warning email concerning the problem. I’ve put part of chat on the following posted reply. YES I DO BELIEVE THIS CRAP!

parklane64, I have been doing just that and more, except the cleaning of the desk, after 20 years of having a messy desk I fear my wife might have me committed!

Well here I sit on Saturday evening, still locked out of ebay. I spent Thursday and Friday trying to make meaningful contact with ebay. After connecting with ebay live reps six different times, I finally was able to chat with someone (Matt) who was able to give me some information about my account.

Part of our Chat went as follows;

Matt: Safe Harbor has suspended your account because they tried to call you and was unable to make contact. They have listed your phone number as “disconnected”.

Curtisj3: This isn’t true, I’ve had this number for almost 20 years and it has never been disconnected. I have an answering machine on the phone along with caller ID. There has been no message left by ebay or any ebay phone number id shown up. When I am online I utilize Call Wave Internet Answering Service. There is no way that they called and was unable to make contact with me.

Matt: Perhaps there was an outage at the time they placed the call?

Curtisj3: There has been no outage that I’m aware off. Do you know if it was a real person who placed the call or was it an automatic computerized call?

Matt: I’m not sure. Perhaps they reached your Call Wave, misunderstood and were unsure how to handle it so it was listed as disconnected.

Curtisj3: I have been told I should have gotten an email from ebay warning me to update my information within 48. I never got one. What about that? Who do I need to contact in order to correct this situation?

Matt: I’m sorry I can’t confirm if an email was sent or not. You’ll need to contact Safe Harbor. They are the ones who have suspended your account.

Curtisj3: Great, do they have a phone number?

Matt: Safe Harbor can only be contacted via email. Use this link to reach them.
http://pages.ebay.com/help/welcome/customer-support.html

Curtisj3: Been there, done that. All I got was an auto-reply thanking me for emailing and that I should get a reply within 24 to 48 hours. Does that mean I can expect to hear back from them sometime Monday or Tuesday?

Matt: I would expect them to email you in the upcoming week. I know that they are really busy.

Curtisj3: Thanks Matt, I guess I’ll just wait to hear from them. Thanks again.

So here I sit on Saturday evening, still locked out of ebay.

Curtisj3...One thought did occur as this actually happened to me. I found out I had an invalid telephone number on file with Ebay when a bidder pulled my contact info and I got a copy of it. What had happened was the telephone company changed our area code about a year earlier, making the number I had on file with Ebay obsolete. Could something like this have happened in your case?

sparkz;
That might just be the problem. My area code did change from 616 to 231 about a year and a half ago. I may be wrong, as I often am, but I believe I updated that info with ebay. At this time there is no way for me to check because I'm locked out. I just tried to check my registration information but I'm blocked. I'm just going to have to wait till ebay contacts me and see what the problem is for sure.

Have you heard anything from Ebay yet concerning your problem?

Well all is well again. Ebay has reinstated me, I'm so honored. All they did was send me an email saying I'm back. I still don't know what the problem was. I never resubmitted any info, when I went to my personal contact info all was correct. I've email ebay safe harbor and asked to be told what the problem was and what I had done wrong so I don't do it again, as of yet no reply.

I heard from a friend today. She's been temporarily suspended from eBay for "fraudulent activity on her account"

Seems she clicked on a link in one of those bogus emails we all get. I don't know what info she put in but evidently it was enough to allow someone to hijack her account. All of her auctions were ended and she's left high and dry until she can get through to eBay and get reinstated.

Hopefully she'll be back in business in a couple of days.

My observation? I'm glad eBay caught it! The fraudulent activity, I mean.

Lucy

OhMsLucy;
I suggest you give your friend ebays number 1-800-322-9266.
Also have them go to www.ebay.com and use the live connection.
Also have them contact Safe Harbor at;
http://pages.ebay.com/help/welcome/customer-support.html

These are the steps that I took and I'm Back.

jackswebb;
I don't know whos fault it was for sure. But if
I'm not told what the problem was, I plan on pressing the case for some kind of comp. for the sales lost due to them closing my active auctions.

Hi Curtis,

I sent her the phone numbers Sparkz listed in this thread. Hopefully she'll be able to get through to a real live person who can help. She's in the South so will have to consider times for calling.

She is, of course, quite upset but I reassured her it didn't look like anything she'd done and eBay would surely take care of it.

Sure hope I'm not wrong...

Lucy
