What kind of things could I buy in bulk and make a killing on ebay? Anyone know?

There are lots of junky touristy items - what can I resell for a decent margin on ebay?
I just updated my new website - give me your feedback on it.

There is always jewelry but what you might want to do is take a day andering and making noted then when you et back to the hotel esearch the items on ebay and see what history tells you on rather than just others opinions.

If it's really "common" sense, why do so few people actually have it?

Pure silk wedding saris. Be sure they're marked - a lot of the saris look like silk but are synthetic.

When Indian people go to India, they have their saris made to order. At least that's what my future DIL's Mom does. She's there now shopping for stuff for the wedding.

Buy steak knife sets. They are slow sellers in India and merchants who have them should be willing to dump them cheap. They sell like hotcakes in the U.S.

I would think that any local artwork or handmade crafts that has reference to Mother Teresa would be a big seller.

Rayon dresses and tops in med to plus sizes.
Tie dyed or water color looking preferred over traditional Indian dye patterns.

Hand loomed silk fabrics - elegant and lustrous, produced by individaul villagers.

Assuming you are traveling by air, something light and small - jewelry. Good prices on gold, but be careful. I'm wondering how you will get through customs. Perhaps you could wear the jewelry?

I made it to Mumbai - or Bombay as it was know today - lots of cheap stuff here - Maybe I can break out a new product line.

As for jobs - thats one of the things I am studying this week - looks like job offshoring is accelerating to 40% anually. The call centers we talked to noted their industry is growing at 70% anually.

Before you start screaming about stuff - most of the hard core number crunching reports out of Mckinsey and Accenture show for every US dollar offshored 1.12-1.18 return to the US. Of course for Europe it is a lot lower than that dollar figure and bad for them.

Lots of the offshoring firms I am visiting point all these figures out to us. They seem kind of blind to the fact that just becaus the US economy benefits, the average US person who is layed off does not benefit.

We know from the previous wave of outsourcing - in manufacturing that most of the factory workers did not get higher paying jobs - they went to lower paying retail and other service jobs. IE - they became waiters or work at Walmart.

So now that the Programmer with 3 years of experience that is out of work can not find a decent paying job for the most part. The question is will he become a waiter or retrain for higher paying jobs? Of course people who worked in call centers and got layed off - didnt make that much money before - so waiting tables will probably pay the same.

The scary trend is the shops that did higher level work. Some firms are specializing in equity research work, accounting, and loan processing.

So will the world end? No - the rupee is up and wages are way up in india for english speaking college grads - Current projections show the current salary arbitrage situation that exists now will evaporate in the next 10-15 years. Meanwhile the growing middle class in India are becomeing ravid consumers themselves and buying up cell phones cars, motorcycles etc. Now India is becoming a market for the very products they are helping produce.

So lets see if I can make some money off the hard working talent here by reselling products made in India.
