It was a cookie, or something--I don't know.

Was just on eBay, looking for a couple of dvd's I want to buy. One seller, route49 had a link in his auction to his/her eBay store & I clicked it to see what else they had for sale.

Lo & behold! Suddenly there appeared, running along the bottom toolbar of my window, an ad from this seller! To paraphrase, it welcomed me, hoped I would bid, and wished me luck, and gave the seller's eBay ID. It was looped, running over and over and over. It even kept running after I left eBay!! I ran my AdAware program & got rid of the sucker.

I've never come across this before--has anyone else? I use Netscape, btw, if that makes any difference with these things...

BEWARE ROUTE49!!!

I had something like that at the bottom of my screen on one seller's page but as soon as I left the page it went away.
It was cute but I don't even remember who the seller was so it didn't work that well.

I saw one for the first time on a listing yesterday. It was clock, correct date, time etc, and moved everywhere with the curser, but it too disappeared when I left the auction.

So what's the big deal. I see it all the time. Once you exit their page it billboard ad disappears.

I didn't see it in IE on my spawn of Satan laptop PC.

However, I did see this...

To keep product prices down for the good paying customers on ebay after 31 days late fees are charged on all items that aren't paid for and the account will be turned over to a collection agency.

Turning NPBs in to a collection agency. Priceless!

I've had some mean spirited bidders who have threatened me in the past b/c I told them they would receive a neg for non-payment. Once they threaten me, my tactics change. I get their phone number through the User Contact Info on ebay. then I go to www.anywho.com and do a reverse lookup for their street address using their phone number. i don't call them. rather, I email them and tell them I may turn it over to collections and it could affect their credit rating if they don't pay. I then ask them to confirm their mailing address and telephone number so that the collection agency can contact them and send them notices. The mailing address is what usually freaks them out since you can't get the info from ebay. They wonder...

It works about 50% of the time.

Whereupon, I, as your non-paying bidder, would get on the horn to SafeHarbor to let them know that you are passing along personal contact information to a third party.

I *think* you would only get a warning the first time. I think.

However, since I'm 100% certain you are violating a consumer credit law by threatening to sic a collection agency to collect what is not legally a debt (no goods have changed hands, after all), you may have bigger fish than eBay to worry about.

Did you turn them into ebay? That is java script that is against ebay rules to have in their auction.
