***Policy Clarification: Relist Credits***
Date: 04/05/04 Time: 12:15:49 PM PDT
Recently, eBay created new messaging in Help and during the Sell Your Item process to help sellers better understand whether their items qualify for a relist credit and under what circumstances. Although there has been no change to our relist policy on unsold items, today we are clarifying our relist rules as they pertain to this new messaging.
Closed items may be relisted for up to 90 days. The ability to relist for up to 90 days and qualify for a free relist credit has always been available. The old wording on the Sell Your Item form, however, stated items could be relisted for 30 days. This wording reflected a time when eBay only committed to leaving the listing on the site for 30 days. The messaging has recently been updated to reflect the 90-day commitment for storing completed items that eBay introduced some time ago.
Only the first relist of an item is eligible for a relist credit should it sell. The relist policy has always stated that only the first relist of an item is eligible for relist credit, however, today the system can track a relisted item more consistently than it could previously. Sellers who have historically used the "relist" function on closed items to quickly list new inventory of similar items may wish to consider using the “Sell Similar” feature from the top of the closed item page. When an item is listed with "Sell Similar," the system will recognize the item as a new item (not a relisted item). Use of this feature will maximize the number of relist credits for which the seller qualifies. Alternatively, using a bulk tool, such as Turbo Lister, can help sellers list large numbers of similar items quickly.
The Reserve price and/or minimum bid price of the relisted item cannot be higher than the price(s) on the original listing in order for the item to qualify for a relist credit. This requirement has always been in place. Now with the recent messaging enhancements, the Sell Your Item form makes this requirement more clear to sellers upfront.
Relist messaging now says an item "may" qualify for a relist credit instead of "will." This wording is in place to handle cases where other factors outside of the SYI process can impact item eligibility (such as with the new Non-Paying Bidder Relist credit which requires that the seller has filed for a Final Value Fee credit).
Based on Community input, as of February 2, 2004, items that are not paid for by buyers (Non-Paying Bidder) are now eligible for NPB relist credits, if they meet all the criteria. Please see the NPB Relist Credit FAQ for more details.
In addition, as has always been the case, NPB and regular relist credits for sold items are applied automatically on qualifying items once the relisted item sells successfully. For more information, please see Help pages on Relist Credits.

Does this mean that Vendio will now recognize a relist older than 30 days for credit? At this time anything older than 30 days says 'ineligible'. I know, I know, I can check the dates myself, but it would be easier if it said 'relist'.

I have been saying this ever since I have been posting here. No one seemed to believe me. Just remember, after 30 days, you will need to have your auction numbers written down to get the extra 60 days. I print them out if I think I might get past 30 days. Especially after a free listing day.

Relists after free listing day aren't FREE are they??
Vendio users can find listings WAYYYY back as long as we know the date the original listing ended. While ebay might have let us relist aged items before, Vendio would not and relaunched listings over 30 days old instead of relisting...that problem is fixed now.

stonecold, I remember you saying that. I was always relisting through Vendio and just found out about this after that last discussion on the board here.
eBay wasn't any help either with their "30 day" wording, they probably deliberately did that for dummies like me.
