I had a question for seller email today properly addressed to my email addy on file with ebay. I opened it and it was from bidder " ykuepo " to seller " wjtroocr " concerning auction # 951925459 for a Toshiba Satellite laptop. The message read "add $4.00 for shipping to Nevada" There was a link to the auction. Since I'm not that seller and I don't have a laptop for sale, my first thought was my account or email addy was hijacked. I clicked on the link to the auction (like a dummy) and it brought me to what looked like the Ebay page for Invalid Items stating the auction was invalid, no longer in their database, etc. As soon as that page loaded, the McAffee red dialog box opened and told me that I was the proud owner of a trojan by the name of VBS/Inor. It removed the trojan for me and I scanned my entire computer afterwards and it came up clean. I went to search in Ebay and discovered that both the bidder and seller id's in the email were not valid and the auction was not valid either. In other words, it was a setup from the start. I guess if they can't get my info from their phony security updates, they'll try to steal it with a Trojan. Be careful of these phony "questions for seller" messages and don't click on any link in the email. Above all, update your AV program religiously!

My AV caught three Trojans yesterday and I didn't even click on anything. Suddenly, everytime I visit eBay, I'm getting Bidville pop-up ads that make it through my firewall and my pop-up blocker. I also had two programs install themselves onto my machine yesterday. It's getting nuts! I've just had to increase my firewall protection which will make visiting some sites very difficult. They are getting more and more brazen. I'm all for free enterprise, but not at the expense of ruining my computer. As much as I'd like to increase traffic to my website, I'd NEVER stoop as low as some of these people have.

I have had about 10 of these messages. Really annoying because you don't know till you open them if they are legitimate messages from a customer or not. Wish eBay could do something about this.

I've gotten a few also. Best thing to do is check the auction number (it's in the subject line) before opening the message. If it's not one of yours, delete without opening.
