It's a room box. As in dollhouses & miniatures, a pre-eBay hobby of mine.

A cute one, I might add...

Really? People call them "room boxes" ??? I couldn't believe it. Everything in it is real. a real mirror on the wall, real wood in the fireplace, real little plate on the left wall. What should I call it? I think I need more close ups in better lighting

Yep - that's what they're called. I made one, it's a bakery, complete with staff, customers, donuts, cakes, pies, etc. Hangs on the wall.

The picture you posted is fine except you need to lighten it up a bit to show the details. Maybe a close-up or two? Looks likt it's in good shape.

There's a place sorta kinda down the road from you, maybe in San Jose?? Can't remember... been decades since I was there. They have these set back into the wall, like a museum. Very elaborate.

Do a search for miniature room box. There are a few listed.

It could be ??? A room they used on the "G E" Carousel at Disney ??? They start in the past and room by room you work your way to the future.

Sounds good to me...Might increase bids too ??

It's called a diorama. If it resembles a room in the persons house it is a memory box.

You might consider listing it in "doll houses", too. I sold one that had been in the family for decades and was definitely tramp art. This one isn't. Shadow box, diorama, or room box should describe it. Mention the mother and child, too.

Hi
Also check to see if the painting is made of oil and hand done. I have had similar things like this and the miniatures were worth more then the entire room.

Rooms like this have been mass produced, but also have been hand picked and put together, so I would check out all the miniatures to see exactly how they were made and if you can see any markings on them,........then you would also have a better idea as to its value.
A lot of work goes into doll houses and doll rooms and some do hold a nice value, it depends on what items are in the doll room.

Just giving you my passed experience when I had doll rooms similar to yours.

This was either originally sold assembled, or possibly as a kit. I have seen these before, and items/wallpaper were the same.

These room boxes are a subcategory of doll house building. I once went to a show for miniatures while we were making a doll house and there was a display of room boxes that had been entered in a competition. We bought some material to make two boxes for fictional detectives my husband collects but have not started them. (Some year soon I hope.) You should try to discover the scale of the room. Most likely it is 1 foot to 1 inch (12 to 1) since most of the contents look like ready-made miniature items.

I have not checked out the eBay categories but there must be one for miniatures and doll houses. Good luck with your listing.
