I just had an email from a person who made me an offer on 3 widgets that I just listed last night. She offered me $70.00 for them, the reserve price is $165.00. I wrote back & told her that wasn't the way I do business. Helz, they have only been on for 12 hours. These are top quality pieces & would cost over $300.00 from Replacements Ltd.

Yeah, the nerve! I think it must be true that people like this have had good luck making such offers in the past so figure what's the harm in trying.

Alan,

Sure, she can have them - but the shipping is going to cost about $114.99 - right?

Wayne, The shipping cost would be $129.00, after all you wouldn't want to lose the actual cost of shipping, would you??? LOL

Must be the Lenox serving pieces.

Nobody pays Replacements prices. Nobody in their right mind, anyway.

I've noticed that the china market on eBay has gotten awfully soft since I first started selling my estate sale finds back in 1998. I made a fortune off a set of Buchan Thistle stoneware back then, but I don't know that it would fetch as much today. You should keep an eye out for Buchan, Alan, they're not making it any more.

Thanx fluffy. You must be checking my auctions. lol I have to chuckle, the Lenox platter sold about an hour ago @ the BIN of $65.00!! Replacements want $169.95 for it & would pay me $25.00.

SANMAR, I know the feeling. I have 2 sterling service coins listed on ebay for $19.00 each. Some bottom feeder wrote saying he will "GIVE ME" $15.00 each for them. I wrote back saying if he wanted them he had to bid and if they didn't sell I was going to melt them down and scrap the silver. I hope he doesn't buy the coins I really don't like people like that having something from me.

Sanmar, Fluffy is one person I would not mind checking my auctions. At least she always offers something straight up and helpful. Even if she does admonish you she is usually right. To me that is nice, as its not just a high-gloss opinion.

When I get those stupid low ball offers, I simply click the delete button. These low lifes that offer a rediculously low amounts don't deserve a response. It simply ends up being a waste of the sellers time to respond to those.

No if I get an offer that is the same as my listing amount, I tell them show me the money and go from there.

The one thing you always want to keep in mind is that the reason a large number of people try to make off site deals is because they are NARU from Ebay. Not really the type of person you want to deal with in broad daylight, much less in a dark alley.
