Hi, all. I've inserted the basic style of gallery into my auctions starting this weekend. When I preview them, though, the auction description is "widened" so that I have to scroll way over to read a line. I do not like this one bit and wonder if the preview is different from the final view when launched.

I surely will delete it fast if that's the case.

Roadsmith, when I read what all the Gallery was going to cost, plus the fact that it is soooo new I figured it would have beta-type glitches, I decided my against it for now.

I feel that for the time-being, my little hotlink insert for our other listings, into my [short by comparison] TOS, steers interested parties into viewing our offerings.

Reading some of the new Gallery threads at Vendio Services board, I feel that a lot of the ebay shoppers might not even be able to view a nice-looking 'gallery':

excerpted from a couple of the Vendio Customer Service posters ---

"If you are attempting to view the Gallery from a system that does not have Flash installed, or has an outdated version (lower than 6.0), you will be prompted to install or update the application. The installation process is very quick and painless, and once it’s installed you should be able to view all Galleries with no problem. If you wish not to install Flash, you will still be able to view the listing, just not the Gallery."

So if a shopper doesn't want to click on "ok, update me", OR if they have a popup blocker will they even SEE this 'prompt'?

... and
"Because the Galleries are complex and image-intensive applications, they are best viewed over high-speed internet connections with fast proxies. It does appear that some internet service providers have proxy servers that are slowing down the connection, which leads to a delay in loading the item images in the Gallery. If you are experiencing slow load times obtaining your Gallery's item images, this does not mean that all your buyers will too." ... ... ... Well, this is another reason I think simple is better; so that NO buyers will have trouble viewing/loading my listing page.

... just my opinion ... [which is subject to change if I hear a couple months down the road that the Gallery users are having stellar whizbang increased sales]

I installed the basic scrolling Vendio gallery and have had no problems with it at all. My items are included promptly, I have no problems viewing it and several buyers have commented that they viewed my other items because they liked the gallery. I guess it's just the luck of the draw and I am lucky this time.

Thanks for that encouragement, capo. I will watch my new auctions tomorrow night with fear and trembling, hoping for the best.

I chose to add the gallery manually. I wonder if that means, if I don't like what it's doing in an auction, that I can go in and revise it out?! If so, that will be my exit strategy.
