I know you've probably all run across this...but what do you do with hateful buyers who bid, buy, pay and then you ship....with a delivery confirmation number. It is delivered....but according to the buyer...it is not at HER house. You respond to every single eMail ( even when they start getting rude ) and then....finally, you tell her -
You have the D.C. number - you purchased insurance - take it to the post office and file!! I will provide you with everything I can to help you out with this.
She - gets ruder - tells me it is MY responsibility ( my ad states "buyer accepts responsibility after shipping, purchase insurance if desired" ). I finally ignore her 2 emails a day. Nothing else I can do for her - never been rude back to her - and WHAM - she negs me stating - "NEVER received!!!! No Communication except sizing for 1 mo. Contacting ebay ".................................
Unfair!! Anything that can be done??

I thought about that Stop - it was a $50 item. What is the threshold for everyone else?
I'm not understanding this feedback thing apparently - I thought it was used gingerly by all - but it appears that anyone can write anything - even if it isn't true!
And it appears to encourage the sellers to have to give up profits and send out extras just in the "hope" that some crazy person won't use it as extortion.
Is it me or is this feedback system slightly flawed? Can neg feedback be removed?

I had this happen recently (yesterday). DC number shows it was delivered but he didn't receive it. It was only a $2.50 item (my cost) so we agreed that I'd ship out another one and he'd pay the postage. If I didn't have another one, or if it was a $50.00 item I probably would have initiated the insurance claim. I normally do all the insurance claims for items - I'm a control freak, I guess.

I had this happen. If a package has insurance and delivery confirmation on it, the DC says it was delivered than the insurance won't pay. Ask your buyer if she has given permission for the postman (or post woman) to leave it on the door step. If she gave him permission then she needs to retract the statement, because insurance won't pay if he can leave it on the step or in the porch. Last but not least have her check with her local post office as the package might have been undeliverable and they brought it back to the PA>

Welcome to eBay.

The Lighter Side catalogue sells a Mr. Wonderful doll. Squeeze his hand and he'll utter one of 16 phrases, such as: "You look so beautiful in the morning", "Will you marry me?" or "No, you don't look fat in that dress". No word on the Ms. Wonderful doll or what she might say.

After 17 negs, Who cares anymore. NOT ALL In A Row!!!!!!!! there are like 1400 other good ones.

....I didn't know that about the insurance not paying, but then this is only the second package that was lost ( or mis-delivered [new word!]
....Ask your buyer if she has given permission for the postman (or post woman) to leave it on the door step.
- she swears it didn't come to her and that it is not at post office ( thought of that one ) but I didn't ask her about ok-ing the "drop at the door" scenario.
You said she "had to retract it" - does eBay have a way to make her retract negative feedback?

Hi Jacks!~
What does Square Trade do for the $20? - owned by eBay ??
How does everybody feel about these negatives? Do buyers really read them and do they influence buying decisions when you have say 200 positives and 2 negatives?

When initiating removing feedback through Square Trade, if the buyer doesn't respond, the service of removing the feedback is free. It only costs $20 if they respond.

We had a package that said delivered and the guy had called the post office about 3 different times over several days.
We looked up the Post office for his Zip Code, called them, described the package and they found it behind some other larger packages sitting on the shelf waiting for pickup.
Good Luck.

For a $50. item
I would call her PO and speak with the Carrier and maybe he will remember delivering it to her.. or may be he can keep an eye out for it.. and you never know... after you speak with them.... it just might show up
I have had that happen... Try it.. can't hurt, but a for a phone call and you might get some peace of mind.

Last week I had a shipment of live fish (guppies) shipped to me. I was watching the tracking number on the USPS website to try to make sure I was home when they were delivered, or shortly thereafter, because the fish didn't need to be sitting out in the sun.
Well .... the delivery confirmation showed that the package was at my post office at 6:15am that morning, so I knew the fish should be on the mail carrier's truck that day.
The mailman came by. No fish. No note to come pick them up, either.
DH called the post office to see what was going on, thinking that maybe the little pick-up note might've been filled out but got mixed up in the mail somehow. The clerk checked, but there was no package waiting at the post office. She said it should be on the truck to be delivered, and that she'd have the mail carrier call as soon as he came back from his run.
Just a few minutes later, the mailman came flying back up my street, and DH happened to be outside in the yard when he passed by. The mailman yelled out "I'll have your package to you in just a minute!", and drove on further into the subdivision.
He'd left my fish at the wrong house! He's a substitute carrier for whenever the regular carrier is off, so I guess it was just a mistake, but we've had some minor problems with the substitute guy in the past.
I checked the tracking number that night after it had been updated, and it showed that the package was delivered shortly after noon, but that was the wrong house. It was REALLY delivered to me around 3:30pm.
I'd definitely call their post office to see what's up, because it was obviously scanned by her post office at some point. And I would tell her that I was calling them, so that JUST IN CASE she's fibbing, she'll have the opportunity for the package to "suddenly turn up". I wouldn't wait too long, either, so it'll still be fresh on their memory (hopefully). You can also initiate a trace on the package after 30 (or so?) days.

All but one fish made it. The seller had sent several extra fish just in case, so I still ended up with more than the quantity I bid on, thanks to his great packaging.

Just take the neg and move on. You did all you could, and now that she negged you, your obligation has ended. IMHO
Keep your money and use your time making money on other items.

wrightsracing -- I was wondering that myself, as this is the first time I've ever bought any fish online. Here's how they shipped them:

I agree with stone, keep the money & move on.
My feeling is when a neg is left any chances of further negotiations are over.
Be sure to respond to the neg by saying something like:
Package was insured, DC says the package was delivered.

Good idea ! Last night I did just what you suggested and this AM - I wake up to an email in my Inbox again!! She eMailed two VERY unhappy *nasty* eMails to me yesterday AFTER she posted the negative!
This eMail was suddenly different - it was from Square Trade! Perhaps she found the item?? ......I thought I was supposed to file with them as the Seller?
So much time on this...so little profit! EBay is so much fun
