I received the following spoof email that looks real until you check the spellling & grammer and the date (26 april 2004 did not fall on a Friday)....

***Urgent Safeharbor Department Notice***

eBay Fraud Mediation Request
Date: Fri, 26 Apr 2004

You have recieved this email because you or someone had used your account to make fake bids at eBay. For security purposes, we are required to open an investigation into this matter.

THE FRAUD ALERT ID CODE CONTAINED IN THIS MESSAGE WILL BE ATTACHED IN OUR FRAUD MEDIATION REQUEST FORM, IN ORDER TO VERIFY YOUR EBAY ACCOUNT REGISTRATION INFORMATIONS.

It's a spoof all right. The big question is where did it originate? China or Romania.

Usually, when they get the singulars & plurals incorrect a la "informations," it be from the mysterious Orient

Pretty bad, they couldn't even get the date right, i.e. Friday April 26, 2004. The 26th was on Monday!!
