Here is a Yahoo help desk #. It is for Yahoo store owners but hopefully they can direct you to where you want to be. 408 - 349 - 3787.
I have loved AOL, since my day 1 with a computer, 7 years ago. Their spam blockers work, with keywords; addresses and ISP's. The unlimited filing system is great. I have worked with Yahoo but find it very hard to get around and the free space is very limited. So to get more space you pay, but only get one screen name. I have never filled my filing cabinet on AOL and I save all EMails regarding each closed auction and PayPal transaction for at least 2 months.
The IM's are even a bonus. I have communicated with buyers before and after auctions, in real time, and not just Emails.
And you can spread your interests out over the 7 screen names. The only disadvantage is that you can't be signed on to more than one name at a time, but at my age, one is all I can handle.
I use very few of their other features, chat, message boards, searches etc. And with my cable modem I only pay less than $10.00 month. Can't beat it. Others have tried to reinvent the wheel but in IMHO AOL is the best. Louise

866-SBC-DIAL in numbers that is 1-866-722-3425. I've had all my questions answered there. Also, Yahoo has a nice web based email if you are interested.
Hope this helps

Lorelei2004,
I looked long and hard at all the free web-based e-mail systems. After a close look at each of them... I settled on www.mail.com. In my opinion it's one of the best. It gives 10MB worth of storage space (which is WAY bigger than Hotmail or Yahoo). It seems to be pretty reliable... with a lot less down time than when I was using Hotmail.
BUT... you might want to keep a close eye out for announcements from Google. They just announced their plans for an IPO yesterday. Industry analysts have been saying that in order for them to increase their profitability, they'd need to offer a web-based e-mail client... like the bigger MSN and Yahoo companies. One of the rumors is that they have already started work on a plan. According to this rumor, they're going to have mailboxes with 100 MB worth of free storage space!!! (that's a lot!) In order to justify this they'll be using a special advertising software program that will scan your e-mails for keywords and then have pop-up advertising for you based on those keywords (so if you get an e-mail from your friend who just bought a Nissan car... you might see a pop-up ad for Nissan). It's a neat concept... plus it gives WAY more storage space! Anyhow... just my two cents. Hope it helps!

I did a search for "web based email service" got 24 million hits one ought to work. I use hotmail, mail.com, yahoo, adelphia.net, Lycos to name a few. Of the bunch Yahoo has less spam.
Now for my stupid Q. Is a web based email service different than the plain old email services I mentioned?

I signed up for mail.com as an alternate eMail addy but it seems to be running very slow. Are you paying for the service? Perhaps that is my problem with it...but you are right, it does provide alot more storage space.
I had my yahoo mail account go down once and I have no idea why but suddenly it was "deactivated" and I don't want that to happen again. It worries me about the free eMail services. Anyone had experience with that?

Lorelei,
Nope... I'm not paying for the service. I'm using mail.com's free service. Usually, their speed's pretty good (although I'm always on a high-speed connection, which may help!). Every once in a while during high-traffic times, it slows down a bit... but nothing that's really affected my work.

I use Yahoo and never ever have had a problem with it. Must have been something that you did. Maybe something bad in another area of Yahoo or something.

Hi Stone~
Actually, it apparently wasn't something I did. They put it back up today ( with all the eMails that were there ) and all the email from them said was that "it was now functioning normally and thank you for bringing it to their attention." They also stated that they are trying to make sure that yahoo mail is safe. I'm confused because I read completely through the terms of service and agreement and didn't see anything that I had done wrong. Go figure ~

Maybe they figured you weren't receiving enough spam. Had to steal your ID to make it spam friendly.

LOL FUNNY !
...... Between my yahoo mail going down and then up again - and suddenly ...all the new pop up windows, I'm beginning to think they attached an "ADVERTISE HERE" neon sign to my space on the world's cyber highway.
