Good morning everyone ! I was wondering if anyone knows this mark on the back of a wall pocket I have.Large S with r p underneath I've tried searches on pine cone wall pockets and the only one that comes up are roseville and it's not that. Any help as always is appreciated ...or a point in the right direction works well too

You've got me, too, and I collect wall pockets.

Wall pockets with pine cones or squirrels, or boats or cottages, will sell, for sure. People like to get them for their cabins and summer homes.

I think I'd put the letters showing in the marks in the title itself. And sometimes in the description I'll ask if anyone knows what it is, that they e-mail me. It works, too.

Wall pockets have pretty much tanked in the last couple of years. Used to bring much higher prices. Good luck!

Veddy welcome, Toasted. We have a cabin in the mountains, and I have bought several similar wall pockets for a wall display there--that's how I know who'd be looking for such an item.

Post the # of the auction in this thread when you put it up, and we can all watch it go.

Toasted,
My sister is an avid wall pocket collector. She looked through all her reference books and did not find this one. I did a search on the internet (what can I say...I just like to search) and found one that looks a lot like it except it has paler colors. It is on a page of collectibles associated with Estes Park Colorado. No maker is given but lower on the page is a jardinière with a pine cone design that is identified as Peters & Reed . Might the R P be P & R (if you read left to right) in the mark. A search for Peters & Reed shows that a lot of the pottery they made has a pine cone motif.

The page is http://www.oldestes.com/Collectibles1930-1960.htm with the wall pocket at the top and the jardinière about half way down. Hope this helps.

Toasted, I know what you mean about wall pockets. My sister has several thousand and she sees one she has never seen almost every day. You can find a style and subject that speaks to almost any collector.

Photo: Thousands of wall pockets! Wow. I began buying indiscriminately 6 years ago on Ebay--almost every wall pocket I could afford to get. So I had a couple hundred. Slowly I began to narrow my choices down to the one that were really speaking to me--art deco, aprons, Chinese sitting girls, lady faces (little ones). Then we moved to a smaller place, no room to display them all, and I began selling off the ones I didn't want anymore. Of course they'd tanked by then on Ebay so I take a loss on most of them, but at least I'm clearing them out of here.

I saw a picture of several art deco-type wall pockets flanking a fireplace mirror, in Martha Stewart Living. Very attractive. I have many of mine, now, flanking (surrounding) an octagonal mirror over the piano, and they look just great.
