I don't know what possessed me, but I bought this set (rather cheaply) at the flea market today. I know nothing about pottery. There is a similar set (in pink and black) on eBay and the seller says she "thinks" it might be Hull. I hate to play the "I think" game, but I know that sometimes we have to resort to that. The only markings are 706D on the tea pot and 706C on the others. Would you say her dating of 1940's is fairly accurate? Anyone else see this style and could it be Hull? Did Hull always mark their pieces? Thanks for any help. By the way, do you know how many teapots are on Google? Yikes.

the matte finish resembles Hull and McCoy. I know McCoy has a pinecone set that is shaped very closely to this set. Try doing a search for it and see what you think. The big clue would be the number (mold) on the bottom.

Can't help on this one, only to say it isn't Hall or Hull. I've seen those pieces with several different glazes, including an example with a solid gold glaze. That particular piece had a stamp on the base with a decorating company name and stated 24 carat gold decoration. I don't remember the name of the company.

Did the Pearl China company produce pottery? This set is definately pottery and is not marked Pearl China company as all the others I have seen. The shape is similar though.

Hi Cheryl
Your set is very pretty but I don't know anything about it. HGTV has some info on Pearl China/pottery here.

This is a very attractive set! Again--try aiming it at cottage or summer-home owners. Woodsy, green, nice. I too think the shapes resemble a McCoy set I have, which has pine cones on it.

Sorry - creamer looks like it but the teapot doesn't. Guess everyone was copying everyone else back then.

Thanks for the link. Great information. I'm thinking maybe it's Pioneer Pottery from around the time Pearl took it over. That would explain the china pots that look like this pottery one. I've found no examples of pottery made by Pearl. Just china.

It's amazing, isn't it? The copying, I mean. If they did that today, they'd find themselves in court. It's a very well made set. Too bad they didn't think enough of it to sign it anywhere.
